Luis Suarez: Almost 'impossible' for him to leave - PFA chief

Professional Footballers' Association chief Gordon Taylor says it will be "practically impossible" for Luis Suarez to leave Liverpool this month.
Suarez, 26, has been told to train alone after seeking a move to Arsenal.

"With the transfer window expiring, the difficulties of not only selling him to a competitor but also replacing him makes it practically impossible," Taylor said.
Liverpool owner John W Henry has said Suarez will not be sold this summer.

29 May: Drops a big hint that he wants to leave Liverpool after saying he finds life in England hard.

12 June: Suarez reiterates his love for Liverpool, but insists life in England is very hard.

8 July : Liverpool turn down a £30m bid from Arsenal.

24 July: Arsenal offer £40,000,001 for Suarez, triggering a clause in his contract.

2 August: Says he will consider a formal transfer request and the possibility of court action if his Liverpool dispute is not resolved.

7 August: Suarez says he wants to leave Liverpool to join a Champions League side.

8 August: Told to train alone by manager Brendan Rodgers, who says the player has shown "total disrespect" for the club.

8 August: Liverpool owner John W Henry insists striker Luis Suarez will not be sold this summer - no matter what the price.

Arsenal have had two offers turned down by the Reds, the latest of which was a pound over £40m.

Uruguay international striker Suarez thought this offer would trigger a clause a his contract, allowing him to move.

"I think it really muddies the waters to have buy-out clauses that are supposed to be confidential between employer and employee," Taylor told BBC Sport.

"Inevitably that gets out. The drafting of such clauses are far from straightforward.

"These are issues we are going to have to raise with the Premier League at our regular discussions."

With less than four weeks to go before the transfer window closes, Henry is adamant any offers from overseas clubs will also be rejected.

"Suarez won't be sold, even if a foreign club comes in, because we do not have time to sign a suitable replacement," Henry said.

The American revealed that Suarez and his agent, Pere Guardiola, were informed any deal for him to leave Anfield would have to be completed early in the transfer window - giving manager Brendan Rodgers sufficient time to reinvest the fee.

Rodgers has said the player has shown "total disrespect" for Liverpool and, when queried whether he envisaged the Uruguay international turning out for the Reds again, Henry replied:
"That's going to be between the manager and player.

"The manager is upset, as he should be. The supporters are upset, Luis is, but that's going to be between those two and his team-mates. We need Luis. Hopefully this will pass."

Once the transfer window closes probably. I dont think Suarez is the type to play anything but 100%.
I dont think the transfer saga is over though, and i wonder how this will affect the team.

That is why removing him from the squad now is the right thing. Once the transfer window is over, if he is still here he can rejoin the squad but until then he keeps well away.

And then the rest of the squad will magically forget whats happened this summer and Suarez will be completely transformed?

No it won't just magically fix itself, but If Suarez shows some humility, works hard and most importantly bangs the goals in then he'll start to repair some of this damage. In some ways I blame his agent more than I do him although he has clearly shown his mercenary sentiments. Anyway lets hope we can get one more season out of him then he can go abroad next summer.

Any humility or apology etc will be hollow because we all know he still wants to be gone and is being forced to stay at the club as opposed to staying out of choice

Do you care as long as he's scoring goals, I don't. I never really liked him before and certainly don't now.

Yes i do care because I know we won't get 100% from Suarez. He will go through the motions until we get through to Jan - seen it with Torres and already reported that Suarez isn't the same at training.

The rest of the squad are his friends. They're disappointed, but what happens on the training ground and around the club is different to the picture painted on forums and in the media. They won't be telling him to F off to Arsenal. They'll still be hoping he stays and BR and the management will keep this fiery little plop in his cage until he's safe to play with the others again, or until a better option, such as a move abroad becomes available. Until then, he can sulk or see the light.

Umm I'm not sure mate - it must be quite hard to think of him as a friend when he has spent 2-3 months telling everyone he doesn't want to play with them anymore ? There will be obvious fractions within the club anyway but that will widen with his antics.

Come on guys, these players are professionals. They're not the neighborhood kids who would be mad at their mate if he left their 5-a-side team for the other neighborhood team. The fans are willing to accept Suarez' apology, I don't see why the players wouldn't. We just keep him until we find a suitable replacement and an offer from abroad comes for him.

Suarez is 100% committed everytime he plays, soon as he crosses that white line he's focused on being the best. Nothing will change because it's how he's is mentally.

It's prob hard for us to understand what they think - reading players books shows that there is hardly ever a dressing room where everyone gets on with each other. There is always natural groups or cliques within the squad - Suarez has his natural group with Lucas/Coates ( used to include Maxi ). His natural group i think will be fine to him - they prob agree with him and understand him - its how the others react to him - they will be some problems and they won't go away because they know he wants out.

I'm not sure how id feel if he was to wear the jersey again, if he drops all this now then maybe he could be forgiven after a few goals but if he keeps forcing the issue then he should never be allowed play for us again.
its very easy for us to say but we are not the ones that has to train, play and work with him so as long as he still has the support of the players and manager then it could work.

The biggest test will be the Anfield faithfull - in some weird way it could unite the crowd and actually create an atmosphere at the ground

Benny, you're impossible. You can't possibly know the atmosphere between the players. And you can't possibly know what Suarez' mind is chewing away at. We can guess, sure, based on what we know. But Suarez Know that he's wanted, that the fans have been great to him, that Anfield is one of the greatest places to play in the world. So he wanted to join Real. Most players would. He made a fool of himself, yapping away at the press back in his home. The press leaped in it, manipulating it, filling a summer break with anything they could find.

But when the press fails to direct the wind, then it blows with it instead. They will always back the winning side, thus creating an image of always getting things right. Newspapers work like fisherman do. A big net, cast far and wide, capturing all, using all, highlighting the parts they want in order to keep their sales steady. Suarez got sucked in and used. Most press sources wrote with a bias towards Suarez, keeping things ticking over, highlighting this and hiding that.

But now the tides have turned, and suprise suprise, Suarez is 'toxic', Liverpool are great, and the papers turned too.

Today's news is tomorrow's bumwad.

Suarez and his team have played their turns, rashly and unwisely. Now the ball us in our court. Suarez will need to come back down from the clouds now and accept that as of yet, he is no champion . And more, if he wants to be a champion, the board is set for him to do so with the mighty Liverpool FC, the once dominant, now dormant, soon to be top, greatest team ever.

So Benny, it's always nice to have counter views and counter arguments, but you reply to every single post, usually negatively. I'm sure you're a nice guy and are somewhat victimised, but maybe try reading more and writing less.

Cheers :)
