Podolski played for bayern between 2006 - 2009 Between that time 2007-2008 he played briefly for Bayern II.

So his main season for Bayern was that of 2006 - 2007 if you consider he joined in 2006 and left in 2009. The season of 2006-2007 bayern never won the league. They actually finished 4th

champions league record during his time

2006 - Champions League 2nd Round
2007 - Champions League Quarter-Final
2008 - UEFA Cup Semi-Final
2009 - Champions League Quarter-Final

So not that bad.

Peter Crouch has a better goal scoring record. 2005 - 2006 season we finished 3rd 2006-2007 we finished third  2007 - 2008 we finished fourth thease season we had with crouch

CL wise

2006 - Champions League 2nd Round
2007 - Champions League Final
2008 - Champions League Semi-Final

Podolski in every way is worse than Crouch

Podolski played 2 games for the second team to regain fitness after an injury and in the season 07/08 played 25 games as they won the Bundasliga

Because they bought Luca Toni and Podolski was pushed out wide and then fell out of favour so left.

Lets not also forget he has scored over 40 international goals mainly from a wide area as well.

Comparing squads vs other teams will always end in failure as each set of supporters always overvalues their own players.
If going by supporters valuation we would finish in the Cl places each of the past 4 years.
It doesn't matter how you slice and dice it, the facts is the only real measure and right now Arsenal has clearly a better squad.
They have for the past 4 years consistenly been a fair bit of distance ahead of us. After 38 games no excuses holds water for me as the league table doesn't lie after a full season.

Podolski and cutting edge? Not in the last 5 years at club level (at least), and not in the last 3 years at NT level!

But I do understand your point about Carzola being the more experienced player than Coutinho; not the more talented, but more experienced.

Coutinho sees angles of the field, faster and at greater frequency than Carzola is capable of...

But both need to validate their games in their respective 2nd PL season.

Doesn't matter. That's the smartest thing to do, even if there is a strong chance of Suarez going on a strike. Real will come knocking soon enough, I'm certain of it.

Coutinho has had a great start - he also did at Milan then drifted away - hopefully he has learnt from that. Believe a lot of expectation has been lumped on him right now. He won't always play as well he did last season - just hope he doesn't hide away when he does have a drop in form.

Needs to show the same ability from last season again this coming season - then we will know if we have a real player and hope we get CL to keep him

If there is any silver lining to this sad saga, its that its become clear that in the modern game with player power at an all time high, no team that aspires to get back to the top level has the luxury to build incrementally over several seasons. Yes Dortmund did it in the Bundesliga, but that was then, and that's in a league with clearly established ownership principles. Even at that, they probably cannot do it in today's Bundesliga, given Bayern's spending power...

Rather its the big bang approach. You spend big money and you shoot straight to the top which itself guarantees the big money from participation and access to the top players. After which you can then consolidate.

I mean just look at Arsenal and their experience of losing key players every season. This is probably the first season they have made a play for a top player in the transfer market in the last 5-7 years...

You only need to see if the player is a real deal by watching him over a few games, like Gerrard for e.g. Coutinho has that extra something about him. Anyone, with knowledge on football would know/see this.
