If Aspa is around 2mil ish then it's a calculated risk - just like Michu was.

Creeping towards £10mil and you get another Borini situation

I think the deal will breakdown should we pay more than the 4.5 million. Which is still a fairly low price.

with a potential war chest of £60m-£80m (if we do sell suarez, carroll, skrtel, coates etc) we should be setting our sights higher than aspas.
imo this signing (and the atsu one) is all about trying to uncover rough diamonds who`s value will dramatically increase, they dont strike me as the type of signings a club trying to compete for the top prizes in the game would make.
lets face it if chelsea or united (or even arsenal and spurs) made these signings we`d all be saying `great! they`ve brought no one in, we`ve got a chance to make some ground up this year` etc.

I think we will make some significant signings, if the transfer window was closing next week and we had only made these signings I would agree with you but we have the whole summer yet so I think you are a bit premature with the doom and gloom

looks like moves are already underway to bag a replacement should Luis leave..

Liverpool eye up Udinese striker Luis Muriel as Luis Suarez replacement

LIVERPOOL have shifted their focus to Italy as they look to make contingency plans in the event Luis Suarez should leave.

Suarez, who hit 23 goals in the Premier League last season, said that he would find it difficult to turn down a move to Real Madrid after he bemoaned the media's constant criticism of him.

We reported that Real are closing in on a move for Suarez and all that is left to finalise is his release clause which stands at £40m.

The Reds have already signed Iago Aspas for a reported £8m, however are keen to add more firepower to their attack.

Football website Goal.com describes Udinese's Luis Muriel as a player equipped with blistering pace and lethal finishing, however has been plagued by injury problems.

They also note that Juventus, Inter, AC Milan and Roma have all been clamouring for his signature.

Muriel notched up seven goals in 29 Serie A appearances last term.

You can add Arsenal to the list of potential suitors ,but if that has any foundation ,what a player!

ever since the owners got their fingers burnt with carroll the onus has been on `value`.
we`ll soon see how much ambition we have when it comes to replacing suarez, if they bring in this muriel fella then fair enough.

Now Muriel is the type of player we want to be linked with. That would be a signing to restore confidence and add belief

Muriel is a good player but as a replacement for Suarez? We need someone better IMO. Don't get me wrong though, I'd love it if we signed Muriel.

we wont replace suarez like for like just as we didnt replace keegan or rush like for like.
it`s near impossible to find another suarez, we just go in a different direction.

                                                                                                coutinho

                                                                   brian ruiz               sturridge            luis muriel

maybe something like that

over on rawk there`s a bit of a flap on that we are going to sign alex pearce, apparently he`s been photographed with ayre and by all accounts someone claiming to be his cousin on twitter is saying a deal is being done.
rodgers has worked with him in the past and rates him.
i dont care how big i am or how old i am if we sign pearce on top of this aspas fella i`ll fvcking cry. wtf happened to signing papadopolous?

I didn't think that you'd disagree mate.

I'm not asking for a like for like replacement, but at least something close to it. For example, when we sold Torres, a 20 Premier League goals per season striker, we replaced him with Suarez, a 40 Eredivisie goals per season striker. So now I expect something similar. I know that we can't go for the Falcaos and the Lewandovskis etc. but I'd expect that someone like Benteke for example would be a candidate to replace our best player. I wouldn't mind Muriel as a signing, I think he's a good player, but he's not that proven. Statistically, he's got a similar goal scoring record to the one Borini had when he was at Roma. I think you understand what I'm trying to say?

Anyway, Brian Ruiz? Personal wish or a valid rumor?
