I don't think any of the clubs who *could* pay him the sort of wage he wants are interested....unless he goes to a ***** league in Turkey Russia or China.

Clearly he isn't keen on Gala so something else is happening.

Cool hand Luke I never said they can't afford to pay him I said they won't. They won't risk the money on a 28 year old

If its Sneijder or another player the club has to see if the benefits to the team out weigh
the financial risk.

We shouldnt have a number we wont go too unless we simply do not have the money, however
after losing Cole and Sahin you would imagine that isnt the issue and more down to sticking
with a blueprint the club has set out.

If I was NESV I would be thinking that getting this player is a significant upgrade and potentially
pushes us at least 6 months or a year ahead of schedule in terms of team development, so on
that basis it is a risk worth taking to get us top 4 that bit quicker.

Galatasaray chairman Unal Aysal told reporters: "We offered Sniejder less than €5.5 million [£4.6m] and we have an agreement with Inter for €7.5 million [£6.2m] for Sneijder.

"Now we are waiting for player's decision. I never said 'we agreed with Sneijder 99 per cent'.

If we can get him on wages around 80-90k a week, which is what Gala have offered (what Joe Cole was on) and for 6.2 mil for me it's a no brainer really.

There are great aparallels with Cole, if he's willing to go to Gala then its simply for the money and no other reason. He's not going for teh footie, he's being mercenary. Probably not what we're looking for.

That's why he hasn't signed for gala yet. He doesn't want to go there but noone else has made their interest known yet.

its been reported today that the deal for ince is going nowhere with karl oyston refusing to answer or return rodgers calls :oh:  we should have learned our lesson with him after the adam deal.
on the other side are we supposed to believe that we have no money? harry redknapp is saying that he is able to sign loic remy and yann m villa for qpr on the strength of next years improved tv rights deal but yet we are scraping the barrel.
another thing is that they can get players like remy and villa and they are fighting relegation and we are supposed to swallow some tripe about not being able to attract players because we have no CL football.

I need a holiday before i go  :kungfu:

If we don't make a bid for Sneijder then I will loose all rspect for the management and owners of this club becuase it will show they lack all ambition of ever getting us back into the top flight. Sneijder wants to play in the Prem and is a wonderfully talented player who might, just might,be the issing link that gets us into a 4th place finish this season, and if we get 4th place and Champions League football then everything becomes possible again.

Wish we would take a look at Luke Shaw from S'hampton. He looked phenomenal yesterday against the chavs.

IF we can get Sneijder for no more than 8m with wages of no more than 80k a week then I'd say lets do it. Having a hard and fast rule saying you will never buy older players is baffling. If a player can improve the team and the price/wages are right, then it shouldn't matter what age he is.

Well it looks like we are interested as the Echo are reporting it. But I agree with our stance, a massive wage cut or it doesn’t happen.

Liverpool FC interested in Wesley Sneijder if he agrees to pay cut

LIVERPOOL FC are interested in bringing Wesley Sneijder to Anfield – but only if the Inter Milan midfielder agrees to take a massive pay cut.

The Holland international will leave Italy during the current transfer window after being frozen out at Inter and he's stalling over an offer from Galatasaray as he favours a move to the Premier League.

The Reds have yet to make an official approach for Sneijder but the player's representatives are aware of the club's interest.

Boss Brendan Rodgers is a big admirer of the 28-year-old and believes he would be a world-class acquisition to his Liverpool squad.

However, one major stumbling block is Sneijder's salary. He earns an eye-watering 6.5million euros a year (£5.4million) after tax in Italy. In the UK that is the equivalent of a basic wage of £200,000 per week.

With Liverpool having slashed their inflated wage bill over the past year and offered more performance-related contracts there is no chance of them offering anywhere near that figure.

However, if Sneijder lowers his demands in a bid to realise his dream of playing in England then the Reds will look to hold talks.

Inter are desperate to get Sneijder off their wage bill and have agreed a 7.5million euros (£6.3million) transfer fee with Galatasaray.

The Turkish side are willing to pay him £100,000 per week after tax but he's dragging his heels over a move to Istanbul.

Galatasaray president Unal Aysal wants an answer by this weekend but Sneijder has made it clear he won't be rushed into making a decision on his future.

“I am considering my options,” he said.

“It’s not a question of money. I have time to decide what to do and where to go before January 31.”

Sneijder, who was a World Cup finalist with Holland in 2010, started his career at Ajax before moving to Real Madrid for 27million euros in 2007.

Two years later he went to Inter for 15million euros and in his first season in Italy he helped Jose Mourinho's side win both Serie A and the Champions League.

However, he has been hampered by injuries over the past two seasons and fell out with the club's hierarchy earlier this term after rejecting their request to take a pay cut.

Sneijder, who is under contract with Inter until 2015, hasn't played since September and needs a fresh start in order to rekindle his international career.

If Sneijder does come into Liverpool's price range then it will provide a test of their transfer policy.

MD Ian Ayre told the ECHO this week they are targeting players aged under 24 in order to build for the future. However, he insisted that wasn't “set in stone” and said Rodgers would be able to sign more experienced players if the right personnel became available.

100k AFTER tax.... hahaha!

If we agree to that then everything the club has said in eth last 12 months looks like a crock of glibber. Sorry pal, can't sign you on principle!

Sometimes the greed of top footballers never ceases to amaze me. Okay they only have a short career but they amass masive wealth in that time. I wish I could have retired in my mid thirties with a few million in the bank. The time has come as to see whether he wants to play football or is more interested in how much money he can make. Lets face it, if he is paid 90K per week, he not going to end up on income support when he retires is he.
