apparently sjneider has definitely had talks with an english club. which basically translates as we declared an interest but he's currently in talks with spurs.

I accept that goal.com is a fairly unreliable source, however seeing as this is a rumor thread and all, they claim LFC had contructive talks with Sneiders reps on monday and talks are at a good stage

surely we can do better than this

Hmm did you say that when we signed Hyppia  :D
I personally think it was a good move from him, Molde to Liverpool is to big a jump and he would have had a hell of a job gettng out of the reserves whilst at Southampton he will get game time, learn the league and ina  few years go to one of the big teams, makes good good sense.

If we can't dream of the likes of Sneijder then what is the point of the transfer window?  I love this sort of rumour!!

It keeps us going until the last day when we sign an unknown centre back for £3m, whilst Spurs and QPR spunk a combined £80m on all the players we have been linked with.

Inter Milan boss Andrea Stramaccioni says Holland star Wesley Sneijder, who has been linked with Liverpool, is on the verge of completing a move to Galatasaray.

The San Siro side accepted a bid from the Turkish team last week as they look to end his spell in Italy.

However, the 28-year-old has yet to sign terms with Galatasaray, with some suggesting he is waiting to see whether any English teams make him a last-ditch offer.

Both Manchester clubs have tracked the former Real Madrid in recent seasons, while both Tottenham and Liverpool have monitored him too.

But Stramaccioni is confident Sneijder will be on his way to Turkey very soon.

"I believe that we are now in the home stretch," he told Sky Sport 24.

"From my point of view as the Inter coach it is better for everyone if he moves on. Our transfer dealings depend on his sale."

The Wesley Sneijder rumours keep resurfacing and as far as I’m aware none of the reliable sources (James Pearce at the Echo and Tony Barrett at The Times) have commented either way.

If he is willing to take a 50-75% pay cut on his reported £200,000 a week salary then it would be an interesting gamble at 8 million. Buying players who are on a steady decline is a risk as we found out with Cole and Chelsea found out with Torres. If we gave him a big contract and he continues his decline we would probably be lumbered with him like we were with Cole and Aquilani and end up buying out his contract.

If he could halt his decline and find some consistent form he would instantly add another dimension to our play in the number 10 role. He really is tailor made for the number 10 in the 4-3-3 that Rodgers wants to play.

Worth a cheeky offer of £70,000 a week and a 2 and half year contract with the option of another.

its not the fact that he is an unknown but more the case that if we were interested in him then you sign him, not offer him some rubbish about a trial.
we didnt offer sami a trial, we went and paid 2.5 or 3 mil for him and look at what he went on to do for us. the manager at the time liked him and signed him.
as i said if you arent really interested in a player then why bother even looking at him.
i said i knew nothing about forren when we were linked and il be honest and say it was similar about sami but the difference being that roy or ged  had faith in him and paid the money.

I don't think £70k a week would cut it, and in today's market he should probably command more than that.  He is 28, not 31, and physically could be argued to be at his peak.  Form is another thing altogether.

I think we'd have to go to wages similar to Gerrard's, and when you compare what the two have achieved in their careers I'd say that was fair enough.

The addition of someone like him would help to balance out the team which has far too many kids playing every game.  With him and Gerrard, plus Suarez we would look much more like a side that could compete for top 4.  If Sneijder helps to get us there, then build in a bonus too!

At the moment no-one (including me) expects us to sign him....Spurs might, Arsenal maybe so why shouldn't we?

If he wants that sort of money he isn’t worth the risk. Spurs have a stricter wage budget than us so they won’t get him. There are only a handful of clubs in England that could afford to pay him £100,000+. Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and us.

Arsenal won't pay 100,000 a week for him. If he comes to England he will go to either us or United

It does seem like he doesn't want to sign for gala though so it could be an interesting transfer window

Arsenal can afford to pay him £100,000 per week and have done so with other players, and it’s why their wage bill is amongst the 5 highest in the league. But they don’t need him as they already have Cazorla. The only way Sneijder will get a move to the premier league is if he is willing to take a huge pay cut but I doubt that will happen so he’ll probably end up in Turkey or Russia.

the wage drop could easily happen if he was offered a signing on fee.
8mil to inter and 3 to him then he takes 100 a week. for 11 mil he still would be value
