Yes, I recall he did and was taken to the cleaners about it by the thought police.

Patience is a virtue that some members on here obviously don't have. Yes, we have sold maxi and kuyt because they are aging and they obviously have relatively high wages and they have become mostly backup players. Right choice IMHO and this is coming from a kuyt and maxi fan. Other than that we haven't lost any other players yet. If we sell Carroll and bring in Allen, Dempsey and Ramirez, I would say it will be a very good job done by Rodgers.

And this thing about DOF, everyone was bitchin and moaning about having someone who can undermine Kenny. Now you are complaining about NOT having a DOF???

I don't think people are neccesarily complaining about not having a DOF... its just that the DOF role seemed to be a major part of FSG's philosophy until Rodgers arrived.  Remember all the talk of group thinking / decisions and splitting Comolli's role into 2 or 3 roles?

Surely a bit concerning if our owners have suddenly abandoned their philosophies 2 years down the line?

I think it's a simple matter of learning how Football works.  They were used to a system where there was someone above the manager who dealt with player acquisitions etc.  Also factor in that they hired Comolli while Hodgson was still the manager, to get someone new in before making a rash (although in hindsight it wouldn't have been too rash) decision.

I don't look at it quite as abandoning their thoughts.  I look at it as an adjustment.  And it's a good one.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

I seem to remember that B-rod insisted on no DOF's if they wanted him as the manager.

Well that's the problem with us supporters isn't it, damn if you do, damn if you don't. So who can blame the owners for doing what they feel is right...

My problem this summer has been our seemingly growing list of transfers outs and only one transfer in.

We've gotten rid of Kuyt, Maxi and Aquilani and only have brought in Borini. Rumour has it that Agger, Skrtel, Carroll and Bellamy might well be departing soon and it would appear that we're still as slow as ever in our transfer dealings.

Concern is fine, but I think it's only fair to wait and see what business we actually do before slating the owners.

I find it concerning that Rodgers has come out and said he might have to dip into the loan market to bring in some players to bolster up our squad ahead of the new season. Where is the investment? We're losing footballers left, right and centre and it doesn't appear that they'll be replaced and that's worrying to me. These Owners want Champions League football and the extreme wealth that comes with competing in such a rich competition, yet they don't seem to want to investment in the team. In order for us to get back into contention with the top English clubs for a place in the competition, we need a much better team and a much better squad, yet we won't achieve our aspirations if we're forced to dip into the loan market for players.

We've bought just one player in this transfer window and that worries me, because most teams will make a vast majority of their signings in early July, so those players can get pre-season under their belt at the club. So far it's Borini and he alone won't transform our fortunes. It's time for FSG to open up the cheque book and allow Rodgers to bring in a better array of talent and if they aren't prepared to do that, then I'm afraid they aren't the right owners for us, because we cannot get better without investment in the team.

Nothing wrong with loaning players. It's a good move, depending on who the players are, and I would welcome it.
There are players out there such as Sahin who are available on loan, and would be an upgrade on what we already have.
If they fail to settle, then at least we aren't stuck with the player.
If he settles, there's sure to be a buy-option after the loan.
There are players who were on loan who have made a positive impact for their respective clubs, such as Canales for Valencia and Adebayor for Spurs.

The players that have been sold are those who are either often injured (Aurelio and Aquilani) or in their 30s (Maxi and Kuyt).
If no replacements are bought, I won't be too concerned as there's Suso, Pacheco, Sterling and Morgan who should be given a chance and more playing time.
In fact, there's still 2 more players whom I'm hoping the club gets rid of before the season starts - Spearing and Adam.

It's a good move if the squad is lacking that certain something and a permanent move isn't available. Our squad needs wholesale changes and we are looking at loan moves for ageing players who may not even cut it here?

Sorry but if Allen and Borini are the only permanent players we sign this window I'll be fking fuming. Is their plan wait for the redeveloped stadium before putting in any more money? Fk sake it's like de ja vu all over again.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.
