Needs to grow up and start grafting for the club that pays his wages.

Heres a lad we invested big money in when no one else would touch him
with a barge pole due to a poor injury record. He then crys to go home
when its tougher than he expected and gets his way, but even now cannot
find anyone that actually wants to give him a contract.

Acqua needs to man up and get on with his life and job in Liverpool and
someone should tell him that in no uncertain terms.

this philosophy suits aquilani`s game down to the ground, he`s great at knocking the ball around in little triangles in midfield.
he would be in my starting XI every day of the week.

That's not a lot. Both Carra and Sama had more than him. At least he was better than Adam.

Aquilani admits he would have loved to return to Roma

Liverpool RSS Feed  Alberto Aquilani says he would have taken a pay cut to return to AS Roma.

The midfielder joined Liverpool from the Serie A club in 2009 but has struggled to adapt to the Premier League and has since been loaned out to Juventus and AC Milan.

“I could’ve gone back to Roma last year and I would’ve gladly taken a pay cut for my club colours,” he said, as the two clubs prepare for Wednesday night's friendly in Boston.

“Facing the Giallorossi is always a strong emotion for me. I have already played against Roma four times between Juve and Milan, but it’ll be a little strange doing so wearing a Liverpool jersey.”

Hes a cheeky tw@t

Club colours? Only club he needs to concentrate on is the one putting money
into his bank account and button it

Pay cut? whats he on about? Only reason hes still here is because he wont drop
his money to move on

They drive me mad honestly  :no

I think it's time for him to f*ck off now. Talking about "his" club colors and how it's Ok to play against "his" club while he was in Milan or Juventus but it's "strange" if he's playing in Liverpool. Ok player, would fit well in Brendan's tactics but bad attitude towards the club. Get rid.

Rafa alienating Alonso and then signing a half arsed injured Italian for an extortionate fee... its this change where it all started to go downhill for us on the field. May 2009 we had just pushed Man U all the way. Had Ferguson been in charge of us we would have kept Alonso (he never would have alienated him) and we would have pushed on and won the league in 2010. Unfortunately we had a manager with zero man management skills who imploded and made some shocking, inexplicable signings.

Before Fergsuon signs a player, he obviously looks at his ability, but he also delves deep into what the player is like as a person. Whats his mentality, does he have a good attitude. Gary Neville (yes hes ratboy but he knows his stuff) used the perfect word to sum up players like Aquilani... "flaky". Man U kept winning as no flaky players got in.. the Patrik Berger types constantly fixing their hair. The players fitness level is an obvious requirement (not for Rafa).

Now.. one look at the Italian...

Player fitness record: disastrous
Player mentality: disastrous

So before we even get to ability... physically brittle, mentally weak/lazy... what talent he has therefore is irrelevant as he wont show it. Rafa then forks out 20 million.

Its been a succession of errors since then, whether lacking in talent, fitness or mentality... Poulson, Jovanovic, Cole, Konchesky, Carroll, Downing, Henderson, Adam.

Only Suarez has ticked all three boxes.

The money we have squandered has been disgraceful. It really highlights how important it is to bring in the right manager who makes smart decisions in the transfer market. I think Rodgers looks into the three necessities more. Hes spoken of Joe Allen as having a good attitude, work rate, and is a talented player who gets up and down the field. Borini ticks the boxes also. As does Dempsey for that matter.. theres no Downing-esque lacking in belief.

The sooner Rodgers gets rid of the reminders of the last three years the better... a good start would be offloading the half arsed Italian.

all managers make mistakes even the great fergie.
rodgers will make mistakes also.who's to say borini wont flop or struggle.has rodgers really done his homework on him?,as far as i have read on him he was the worst passer of the ball in a roma side last year.they try to play a passing game also like they showed last night so its obvious he didnt suit their plans for this coming season so they let him go.it wasnt like we broke the bank either for him or faced competition for his signature.
allen has potential but is it any more than shelvey or henderson? he could be another big fish in a small pond who then gets lost in a lake.
if this lot flop then the only difference is the financial loss will be less than previous players but that is not down to rodgers being shrewd, its down to fsg not giving it to him.
at the end of rodgers tenure we can then discuss his mistakes and failings as he will make some, just like the rest did.

lol.. now Aquilani changes his tone

Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani says he is puzzled by his past treatment at Anfield but is hopeful of proving himself to Brendan Rodgers.

Aquilani, 28, is back with the Reds after two seasons in Italy on loan.

"How can you pay £20m for a player and this player is never taken into consideration?" he told BBC Sport.

"I never asked to leave but I was always pushed by the club. I am here and I would like to play for Liverpool but it doesn't depend only on me."

Aquilani played the first half of Liverpool's friendly defeat by his former club Roma in Boston on Wednesday, and new manager Rodgers said afterwards that he is still considering whether he has a future at the club.

But the Italian international playmaker, who has two years left on his contract and is keen to commit his future to the club, says his initial meetings with Rodgers have been encouraging.

"I had a very good talk with Brendan where we were able to share our thoughts and it was a very positive chat," Aquilani explained. "I like his footballing philosophy and I like the mentality he has because it matches my own skills."

Aquilani was signed by Rafa Benitez but has not played a competitive game for the club since Benitez's departure in the summer of 2010.

Under Roy Hodgson and Kenny Dalglish, he was sent on season-long loans to Juventus and AC Milan, and says it has been frustrating not to be able to prove to Liverpool fans he can make an impact in England.

"The situation changed after Benitez left," Aquliani added. "In past years, I felt forced out. I never asked to go on loan but they made it clear it was better for me to go.

"I think Liverpool people have to know that I have never said I wanted to leave the city because my family and I were not happy here. This is not true.

"I cannot say I have unfinished business in English football because I really never played but, the little I did, I believe I was able to show to Liverpool fans that I have quality and that I could have helped the team."

thought he had only one year left but as its 2 i hope rodgers keeps him.
honestly you cant blame the lad as its true what he says,we bought him and paid 20m but wouldnt play him and then kept pushing him out on loan and at that rodgers still doesnt know if he will use him.
he has ability and talent and will suit our style so rodgers could do with giving him a clean slate like the one he's going to give to the showboat joe cole.
aqua has done well in the last 2 games and you can see he clearly has the touch, creativity and positional sense to be a good player for us.

well there it is out of the horses mouth, the club have treated him like sh*te pushing him out of the door whilst bringing lesser players in, no wonder we have been going backwards.
he`d be a nailed on starter for me next season.

The best managers are the ones who make the least mistakes.

We have spent the money to have been champions several times over the past decade, unfortunately we havent had the right manager to spend it. Fowards..Heskey (10m), Diouf (10m), Cisse (14m), Keane (20m), Babel (13m), Carroll (35m). Midfielders..Diao (5m). Cheyrou (5m), Pennant (7m), Aquilani (20m), Henderson (17m), Downing (20m).

When you look at the three requirements (talent, fitness and mentality) we have routinely failed on one or more of those. I didnt name Dirk Kuyt because his attitude and fitness was first class which meant he did far better than players who had more talent than him.
