in the interview i saw with laudrup on sky it seemed to me that he wanted allen to go so he could get the money. he said with such a `big money` offer the club and the player had to seriously consider what they were going to do.
laudrup knows that he could take that money and get just as good a player if not better one from la liga, a division he knows very well.
spurs and united wont go for allen mate, united are too busy trying to sign van persie and spurs have moutinho lined up as modric`s replacement, they are shopping in harrods mate

So 15 million for without a doubt the best British midfielder in the Prem last season ,and that's shopping at Aldi  ?  :D

allen has played most of his career in the lower league`s, he has only played 39 top flight games.
it`s a big gamble to spend so much money on someone with so little top flight experience, especially when it looks like we are skint.
over the years there have been hundreds of footy players who have burst onto the scene in a blaze of glory but then their careers just peter out.
when that seth johnson first arrived on the scene he was being hailed the future captain of england and look at that michael johnson at city who was being called the next steven gerrard etc
at the moment allen is in his comfort zone playing in familiar surroundings for his hometown club, a club with practically zero expectations, he`ll get a culture shock when he gets here, the liverpool shirt is the heaviest shirt in english football, add that to a £15m price tag and there`s a lot of pressure on him.
i think we need a defensive midfielder but £15m is a ridiculous price.

Class player that Johnson, he had a nightmare with injuries otherwise he would have been a cracking player.

I get your point though.
The thing with Allen though is he is 21 so hasnt really had any time to prove he can do it consistently yet.
I honestly believe that he will be a top signing if he comes.
Sabre looks like a big lezzer

It is practically a given that when a new manager arrives he will attempt to surround himself with players he is familiar with and utilise them in key
positions ie Borini ,Striker, and if we sign him Allen midfielder ... I think Rodgers decided against pursuing Sigurdsson because he felt there was an
opportunity to buy Allen from Swansea who was probably the catalyst for everything fluent about Swansea's football last season .

All in all mate ,I trust Rodgers to put together a side that will be comfortable on the ball ,and one capable of sating the football purists ,whilst surprising
even the most pessimistic  amongst our fans .

i agree totally with what you are saying there and think you end statement is exactly what alot of people on here need to read. Trusting our manager and allowing him to create his own team that he wants not a fantasy FIFA team like most people want on here.

Rory Smith from the Times held a web chat earlier today and revealed a lot of information regarding Liverpool’s transfer plans this summer. Here are the highlights of the chat.

On Andy Carroll

Carroll expected to start training. Newcastle ready to take it slow. Nothing new to report but will on all 3 sides. It seems LFC have a valuation for Carroll and if not met he will not be sold. Will Rodgers try incorporate him or bench him + sell in Jan. There’s a point below which LFC think it might be embarrassing to sell Carroll. They dont want to do business below that. Carroll is the easiest way to raise funds because 15m or so can be raised to reinvest. That’s the attraction for buying English.”

On Champions League Football..

They expect to get back into the Champions League, but FSG have realised it wont be quick fix. Fourth this season shouldn’t be ruled out.”

On Rogers’ formation plans..

Theory is 4 – 3 – 3 with Allen – Lucas – Gerrard. Suarez withdrawn left-sided striker, Borini through middle.. Dempsey and/or another on the right. Henderson would be part of a relatively strong bench.”

On the Dempsey, Adam swap deal saga..

I ran the  Dempsey  Adam swap story. Its from a good source so theres something in it. Theory is  Adam replaces Murphy.  Fulham, though, deny everything all the time. They denied that Liverpool had enquired after Dempsey after Liverpool had admitted it. Adam’s future may depend on his fitness. He’s not a Rodgers player, though. I think we can all see that.”

On Aquilani..

Aquilani will go, but late on, when Liverpool have to bite the bullet.”

On the wage bill and outgoings..

Liverpool want rid of about 500k a week from wage bill. Getting rid of Carroll, Aquilani, Maxi and Kuyt which is 200k combined.”

On a new target..

I’m sure Liverpool are interested in Gerard Deulofeu but it has the ring of agent talk to me.”

hope this is just speculation.
a front 3 of borini, dempsey and suarez? take suarez out of that equation and your left with a 2 man strike force you`d expect to see at a mid table plodder like sunderland or fulham.
the midfield isnt exactly much better - lucas, allen and gerrard. not bad players as individuals but we look light in terms of creativity. if your entire midfield consists of 2 grafters and an injury prone 30 something where the hell is the creativity coming from? there`s a lot resting on gerrard and suarez`s shoulders if that is rodgers proposed line up for the up coming campaign.
no wonder swansea were the 4th lowest scorers last season.

He is a scouser so why would he go to city

I also reckon he could have supported Liverpool as long as you have been alive.

I reckon even I have.

Yes you text speak like a child so the inital assessment is correct. Who the hell do you think you are telling local people from Liverpool to go and support City just because you don't agree with his assessment of a player. It's about time you grew up you little *****.

It is possible to disagree with someone without

A. Telling him to f*ck off to City

B. calling him an insult

Try a more mature sensible approach and try asking him why he thinks what he posted ? You might then get a response and a respectable debate starts to happen.

Try that instead of acting like a uneducated chav around the forum.

I have no doubt the reply will be a "fuk off" "nob" "*****"
because I don't think your vocabulary can stretch to a mature conversation
