Such a disappointment given he was our main summer signing, in his prime and coming off a smashing season for Villa. Just dont know what's went wrong for the lad.

to be fair to him he`s created quite a few good chances but our forwards havent converted them, i remember he put in a great cross for carroll in the game against swansea at anfield but carroll crashed it against the bar when it was easier to score and didnt he charge down the chelsea player at wembley when carroll scored?
he`s had a poor season but he hasnt been helped sometimes by his team mates.

Downing cost £20m and has done nothing whatsoever to justify that price tag. He's been poor all season, an absolute joke of a signing.

Downing was 20 million and that lot cost 20.5 million...so thanks for proving me correct 

Downing was reported to be in the region off 18 mil

Add Dundee who was 2 mil plus Kvarne another mil , Ferri half a mil

So your statement was incorrect - Downing didn't cost more than them put together.

All of them were miles worse than Downing.

So no second season to redeem himself ?

Go and read what players like Freidal have to say about him - they even suggest he takes a while to get going in a new club.

He was disappointing no doubt but ffs let's give the players more than the one season .

As for bottle - two games at Wembley he stood up to be counted - Downing suffered with our strikers missing chance after chance because Downing was the one creating those chances

Funny how you say Merieles did nothing for Liverpool and now your in this thead defending Stewart Downing! you couldnt make it up
