Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby bigmick » Sat Oct 23, 2004 8:48 am

I for one am certain we are progressing the right way. A sobering thought, if last season when watching the one-man team that was Liverpool someone had said, "imagine if you didn't have Gerrard for two whole months". Would we seriously have been able to contemplate CL football and picking up points in the Prem? Here we are, ok inconsistent but not going too bad. We are progressing and are beginning to look like a football team on occasions. When Stevie comes back it will be like having a brand new 30 million pound signing. Things aint too bad boys.
One last thing, I know I've slagged the ridiculous transfer fee, but I see a glimmer of hope in Cisse. I think he'll score today and that roar from the Kop might just give him that spark of confidence. It won't be easy 'cos they're a better side than their league position suggests, but a win would put us in not a bad spot ta' very much.

It's a good reminder Big Mick. The have done well since losing their driving force in midfield. I hope Stevie comes back fit, motivated with a clear head and full commitment to LFC.

Cisse's performance against Depo was a slight improvement, as you say a goal or two and we could see things start to happen for him - its a bit like Kezman at Chelsea.

I saw the Mancs game yesterday as a watershed, had Arsenal won they the point difference would have been 12 now its only 9 which to me seems closable.

Is it me or do others feel the same and of course Everton aren't going to keep it going so take them out of the equation :D

The longest unbeaten run in a League was Milan in Serie A for 58 games. When they were finally beaten they only managed to win one further game that season - who knows what could happen to Arsenal, they are definitely due a dip in form.

Im just sorry that we didn't get the chance to end their run instead of United.

No mate remember they got knocked out of CL and we played them straight away they where like wounded lions :( .
I think they they will destroy there next apponents as manure didnt win fair and square was only through bad refereeing decitions.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

With Nunez and Gerrard still to come in, we're not doing badly at all. This time last year people had a list as long as your arm of players that they were demanding were sold immediately. This year, I think only Diao has looked anything other than a useful member of the squad. While not exactly revalations, Traore and Biscan are suddenly looking like they can actually add something to the club, and I'm no longer cringing when I see their names on the start list or their numbers on the subs board.

If we can nick an away win in the CL, and start doing some damage on the road in the Prem, I think this could turn out to be an interesting season.

i'm really sorry you fellow reds but i want to be realistic.

we wont win the league this season - no chance.

if you wanna think up an interesting forfeit in case we do then i'm game. you know hat-eating, along those lines. beating either Arsenal OR chelsea is a monumental task
its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

Totally agree Jim, any title-talk is fanciful to say the least. However, if we can finish fourth again (I actually think finishing above the Mankies will be a bridge too far aswell) and have acouple of decent cup runs then I would be contented. The test is close-season 2005, will we mentioned as serious possibilities for the title? Then in 2006-07 will we be contenders and maybe even win the thing? Possibly. Maybe I should start another thread and ask the question, how many of our current squad will be part of that team? More than you would initially think I would venture.

No mate, not stupid at all. We're aiming for the title never mind third! I just reckon that we're shooting for the stars which is great, but we'll probably hit the TV aerial which is about fourth give or take. Just remember, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manu, Liverpool in that order wouldn't be a disaster for us at all. For the Mankies though after spending all that cash and being generally so f***ing arrogant would be an absolute unmitigated disaster. Would probably mean the end for Ferguson IMHO. And then, just think if we did actually finish above them. You know what? I'd love it, really love it if we beat them, hang on I'm starting to sound like someone else here. :D
