I think you need to calm down and stop being so melodramatic. Our name isn't being dragged through the mud and if it has been this season, then it hasn't been because of the sacking of Damien Comolli, it's been because of Luis Suarez and his petulant attempt to wind up Patrice Evra which backfired when Evra ran to tell the authorities. FSG have shown that they won't take failure lightly and clearly they have seen Comolli's position as Director of Football as being untenable and have decided to act, swiftly and accordingly. I fail to see how that has 'dragged our name through the mud'?

Interesting indeed, and I see there has been a cull of staff elsewhere. Unfortunately for the likes of Heimdall it isn't Kenny that is on the 'hit list' (I hope I don't jinx him), and IMO they're willing to give the manager more time than some of our excellent supporters on here.

FWIW, I was never at ease with Comolli being here - on looks alone he looks dodgey, nevermind the job he did at Spurs and St. Etienne. I think he's over paid for many of our players and considering the majority of our new signings haven't been great, he's come in for the chop. If we'd have paid 8-10 M for Downing, 11 for Henderson that may have bought him more time but considering what we've seen of these players so far this season - it's fair to say we've had our pants pulled down and been rogered & reemed up the back side good and proper.

Hopefully this will give Kenny more breathing space and that he can got out and buy class as opposed to stats based players. Well done FSG, feathers here needed to be ruffled and the right one's have been IMO.

I agree. I think FSG have had a good look over whats happened this season and those who have let the club down. If Comolli was responsible for the stupid fees paid for players, then yes he deserved to go. Also looking at the fiasco over the Suarez affair, where the only support he got was from the manager and the players (supporters dont count, thats a given), the fact that Suarez got punished so easily because we never had anyone at the club capable of providing a decent defence for him, again credit to FSG here, they have have had a good look and have wielded the axe. Many people havent been doing the job they are supposed to be good at, and so, they have been moved on. I hope Kenny follows suit and does the same with the players and coaches.

Haven't been near a TV or the internet all day so as have been looking after my 6 month old nephew so only just got this news. Not sure I see it in quite the same way as everybody else. Here's my take:

- Whilst I find their ruthlessness refreshing in some ways I'm not sure the timing was so great, why do it 2 days before our biggest game of the season? Seems a bit of a strange one to me.

- Is Kenny really safe? I can't see how. The board have come out and said what they think about results this season. they sack Commoli for his transfer activity but then Kenny comes out and says "Damien only brought in players that I wanted". Therefore, I'm not entirely sure why they have sacked Commoli and then are saying they are happy with Kenny? It doesn't strike me as very consistent. Far from thinking Kenny is safe. If we lose to the bitters at the weekend I personally suspect that Kenny will be out the door in the summer.

- How are they going to go about getting a new director of football? They don't know anything about the game. In American sports you have a General Manager (GM) who deals with all personnel issues, he leads the scouting team, he signs free-agents, decides who to draft each year from the college ranks etc and the Head coach simply coaches the team. The same approach simply does not work in football. Never has, never will.

- As for the strategy Werner is talking about, is that more of this "moneyball" bollllox again?

Yeah I think hes safe. Its standard practice these days for a manager to make a list of the players he wants, then the club goes and gets them. In this case, Comolli was the man responsible for that job. As Kenny said, he has great respect for Comolli as he went out and got the players he wanted. I can only guess he was let go because of the daft fees negotiated for the players, and in that sense, that isnt Kenny's fault.

  nice one mate! i never thought of it like that? FSG have shown decisive action but a couple of points you have failed to pick up on was, WE HAVE SACKED 4 MEMBERS OF STAFF JUST BEFORE ONE OF THE BIGGEST SEMI FINALS IN THE CITY OF LIVERPOOL FOR THE LAST 20YEARS!!!!  for me when we have just started to recover from the whole suarez affair which the lawyer has been rightly removed from her job but couldn't it have waited 4 days???  instead the papers are again going to be full of behind the scenes liverpool business instead of the stuff that actually happens on the pitch!  im from the generation of "doing things the liverpool way!" i understand that things have changed and shankleys vision in this cash generated world we call football is much much different to the one he made things happen but some of the simple principles will never differ!  comolli was never going to work and the head of sports science is something i know nothing about! the goalkeeper coach situation is one that could have waited so why put the focus on whats happening behind the scenes when we have an FA Cup semi final on the weekend???  meladromatic isn't what this is!  if you can't see that at every turn in the last 7 years that we have been exposed time and time again and that we have gone from a team that could compete to a team that has no chance in the league, even a top 4 finnish! then im affraid you have your head firmly in the sand!  this whole situation is going to cause more questions than answers and before the game on the weekend it brings uncertainty! is dalglish being primed for a job upstairs? what was comolli actually doing at liverpool? why was the lawyer not instantly delt with? why remove a guy from his job as head of sports science if his record proves he has done a great job? as for the goalkeeper coach??? that could have been delt with at the end of the season!!!!  i know what the papers are going to be full of tomorrow and i know the players are going to read them, probably as in the dark as the rest of us and it's unsetalling!!!  why do it now? why not in 4 days???  this just doesn't inspire confidence in me and you can say whatever you please mate! i have enough knowladge to know that this situation is not a great advert for LFC and i know what the papers will be full of tomorrow!!!  bury your head if you like mate!

The timing is odd, a couple of days before a semi final. Why do we have to make things hard for ourselves?

Kenny came out and said the signings were players he wanted and Comolli went out and got them - okay so what exactly has he done

I agree that the timing is off, but this whole 'it ruins the Liverpool way', 'we're in the newspapers again' etc is just melodramatic utterings. Some of the old relics that support our club need to accept that Liverpool has to alter its philosophy and adapt, otherwise it gets left behind in the ever-changing sport that is football. It's because we were hell bent on perserving old age tradition that we were left behind in 1992 and have never recovered since then. Now we have new owners, owners who walked into Boston Red Sox and helped them lift their first league title in something like 80+ years. These guys know what it takes to win and they have decided to wield the axe now. As I say I agree that the timing seems off, couldn't this have been done in the days after our last game of the season? However, John W Henry and Tom Werner are businessmen and they'll make the business decisions, I just have to accept it and hope that things work out just fine.

If I was a Liverpool player, I'd be taking heed of these dismissals ahead of the Everton match and I'd be fired up to put Everton to the sword, for my own career and that of my manager, because FSG have once again shown that they will take no prisoners once hells bells start to chime. [I'm listening to AC/DC, not being melodramatic, honest!]
