Downing has had a decent couple of games albeit against championship opposition both times. It's up to him to show similar form in the premiership starting against Arsenal on saturday.

Confidence player.

Man of the match in the league cup final, winning goal in the fa cup quarters, he is now making contributions in big games. The belief he will garner from this will hopefully make him produce more moments of quality. He has the talent, its a question of him believing it. The attack is still lacking as we are still reliant on Suarez and Gerrard, but two quality additions, from Spain, and we would be a much more dangerous proposition next year.

Why must they be from Spain? Why not Germany or France for instance? What's the obsession with Spanish talent?

Doesn't matter where they are from as long as they are good enough.

Not necessarily from Spain, however the Spanish league is the best in the world and there are a large number of players in la liga who would walk into our side and make us infinitely better.

Athletic Bilbao have better players than us for example.
