Luis Suarez signs for Barcelona

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

Liverpool Managing Director Ian Ayre has today released the following statement.

"We are extremely disappointed Luis Suarez did not shake hands with Patrice Evra before yesterday's game. The player had told us beforehand that he would, but then chose not to do so.

"He was wrong to mislead us and wrong not to offer his hand to Patrice Evra. He has not only let himself down, but also Kenny Dalglish, his teammates and the Club. It has been made absolutely clear to Luis Suarez that his behaviour was not acceptable.

"Luis Suarez has now apologised for his actions which was the right thing to do. However, all of us have a duty to behave in a responsible manner and we hope that he now understands what is expected of anyone representing Liverpool Football Club."

Evra didnt want to shake hands, no one apart from sky want people to shake hands.

What is the bigger disgrace tho...

a: Suarez not shaking a liars hand

b: a fanzine with cutouts of KKK on it?

I'm pretty sure I can see where the true racism is, and the media just dont care

I've not only let him down, but also the Club and what it stands for and I'm sorry. I made a mistake and I regret what happened.

I should have shaken Patrice Evra's hand before the game and I want to apologise for my actions.

I would like to put this whole issue behind me and concentrate on playing football.

there it is. now can we move on?

yes, I'm very happy with that response from the club, finally some maturity and good decisions. Line under this now and lets move on.

Im just annoyed that all over again Manure get away with being the ones who can do know wrong. Id like to ask Ferguson why Cantona wasnt sacked after he kicked someone in the face, a fan noless, which is a little bit worse than the refusal of a handshake.

All a massive balls up

Feel sad for KK. Looks like he was forced to make that statement by the owners.

This is just one f**king example of how unfair the FA and media is against us.

They were all over KK and suarez for the post-interview & handshake thingie....fine.

But did anything happen to f**k face fergie for his "suarez is a disgrace to LFC and should be sold" comment ? Who the f**k is he to comment about us ? Why isn't the PFA chairman saying anything about that ? Can an opposing manager say that about players ......?

The worst thing is some of the so called fans are repeating the same words whiskey nose uttered ...."suarez is a disgrace"... :no

jesus.

I am sick to death of all of this now. The club has made many mistakes through this whole affair, but we are now being attacked on all sides.

I just cannot understand why Ferguson has so much hatred for our club?

Why are Manchester United allowed to get away with so much?

Can anyone please explain why the media love them so much and why 99% of them have it in for us so much? I just don't get it??

If Dalglish resigns and Suarez leaves then Ferguson will have won

Just like he won when Rafa challenged him

I am sick to the stomach of it all!! The level of their hatred for us is deeply upsetting and disturbing!

Luis Suarez actions are destroying the image of our great club, our name is absolute dog muck right now and for what? what on earth was he thinking not shaking Evra's hand yesterday. There was a golden opportunity to draw a line under this whole sorry mess and he refuses it and reignites the whole saga, i was completly shocked when i wathced the incident, what a complete idiot. Someone at the club needs to drag him to one side and tell him to sort himself out pronto. I didnt think id ever see a day when Manchester United held the moral high ground over Liverpool FC, Shameful.

Postby red till i die!! » Sun Feb 12, 2012 7:34 pm

its sad really that the club had to issue grovelling apologies to manure:( .
i wonder will they apologise on behalf of their players conduct at half time and at the end of the match and also whiskey nose's scathing comments which he had no business making or the fact that their fanzine had kkk cutouts for their fans to wear.but no they are the victims here yet again.

i still agree that if suarez didnt want to shake evra's hand then he shouldnt, what he did wrong was tell the club he would and then back tracked.he should have told them he wasnt going to do it and then the club could have made arrangements to avoid it.
if we had of started him on the bench or not included him in the side he would still of been crucified and so would the club so we were always fooked either way.
he embarrassed himself by not doing it when he said he would.
draw a line under this and move on.

the biggest winner here is manure and jim whites dry cleaner as he jizzed himself several times when the statements came out.they asked everybody they spoke to today whether they had anything to do with football or not what they thought about it and i hope during camerons debate on this they get rapped for their part in creating the tension and then stoking the fire.

Suraez's cardinal sin was not his refusal to shake Evra's hands. Frankly, in an ironic way I respect his refusal to partake in what was always a charade.

His mortal sin was to mislead his manager into believing and publicly acclaiming that he would shake PE's hands, which in turn means he deliberately misled the club and the thousands of fans who have supported him thru this witch hunt.

Having said that, the reputation of LFC is not and can never be determined by how others see us. I do not give a rat's behind how 'others see us' or whether 'they are laughing at us'. ENOUGH WITH THAT ALREADY! Frankly it is despicable for any true Liverpool fan to assess the club's rep on the basis of how others see us.

Liverpool's destiny is written by us, by us the fans, by our players and our managers.

It is us that Suarez should be accountable to for having misled. Thats the lesson Luis Suarez needs to learn...
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

Suarez chose to deceive the people that have backed him to the hilt and thats a major concern.

We can argue the rights and wrongs of the initial incident but with that stripped away he then decided to go back on his word and hang his manager and employers out to dry.

Dalglish backed on to the ropes in the concourse of old trafford and left having to apologise was not a pretty sight and you can lay that horrow show at the door of our mercurial forward.

Dalglish "All of us have a responsibility to represent this club in a fit and proper manner," he said on Sunday.

"That applies equally to me as Liverpool manager.

"When I went on TV after yesterday's game I hadn't seen what had happened, but I did not conduct myself in a way befitting of a Liverpool manager during that interview and I'd like to apologise for that."
