Andy Carroll signs for West Ham

The Premiership - General Discussion

He was great last night... getting better now. He did look stronger and he did look interested. He has been putting in the effort over the last month or so and starting to see the benefits of his hard work.

made up for the big man.

It just shows if you put the work in the resuts will improve.

I think he has improved in every of his last 4 or 5 games, he is by no means the finished article ut as long as he keeps taking the steps in the right direction  he may well prove the doupters wrong.

I really hope we get Suarez playing as close as Kuyt was to him last night.  He will create so many chances for him and Luis will hopefully do better than Dirk!
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Easily his best game. Forget the goal (a goal can disguise a poor performance), his general touch was much better than any game previously. Hes very raw still and has a heck of a long way to go, and the lack of pace at times is a concern, however the improvement over the last 2 games is promising.

I have one other concern about Carroll...something I may be imagining, and something that may not even effect the team, but his body language towards Henderson seems very off to me. I'm not sure he likes him very much. Maybe cos Hendo's a mackem, or maybe because his service isn't great to Andy.

Hopefully this isn't an issue. Just thought i'd mention it.

Loved seeing the smile on Andy's face though. He's had a hard time. Amazing how much a smile can improve a players game

Last night I watched the 2nd half of Saturday's game (again) and yesterday's game (again), Andy Carroll looks like a completely different player.  Maybe all he needed was a steady run of games to turn things around.  Anyway, Much more of the same please Andy.

Andy has certainly contributed towards the change in my hair colour over the last twelve months and he has given many of us good reason to castigate him for some of the garbage he has played. Only Kenny and Benny have kept the faith along with a handful of others. Times are changing though and he is now looking like he can make a serious contribution. We played two very different styles of football last night and Saturday and he handled himself very well in both games.Great to see him get a goal last and he could have had more! KEEP IT UP ANDY! We really do want to make you one of ours and put the cr.ap times behind us! Just look at Lucas. It can happen!

did not see the game, couldn't find a decent stream :-(. Anyway if he had a good game then great I want him to succeed so if he he's finally remembering how to play and score then that's fantastic news.

True mate, but watch Andy's body language towards Hendo when he moves over to celebrate. It's not the first time i've noticed he seems kinda cold towards him. Still, not really an issue. Even if Andy dosen't like him, Sheringham and Cole hated eachother at Manure. Never did them any harm.

I don't think it is just Henderson who has been on the wrong end of one of Carroll's understandable looks of dismay. At times he has been awful but the service has been worse! It is taking a long time with everybody for the penny to drop. Let's hope it has now eventually dropped and that he can now go on a good run until the end of the season.

He's done well these last two games, maybe gaining some confidence ? , hope it continues.

Noticed (as did the commentators) how often when in/around the box he knocked a ball down but there was no red shirt to take it on. Obviously support for those knock downs needs to be worked on.

Having 3 players in support - last night Bellamy, Henderson and Kuyt - really helped Carroll. He looked more mobile and more up for it. He held the ball up well and ran his socks off IMO. You have to temper that statement with the fact that Wolves' defence were all over the place but maybe that was a result of Carroll showing what he can do.

We have an asset in Carroll. It's just making sure we use it in the best formation/team to get the best from him.
