Worcester Ded I'm lost! Fk me! You now want Carroll to play and you haven't got a clue along with your neutral mates as to what he does. Fickle fkr  :D

You'll have him up for player of the season next.

Did you manage to see his goal against Wolves?  :D

Yeah was a nice tap in. I wanted him sold but whilst we have him and he is showing a glimmer of potential then we might as well play him, would much rather see Suarez and Bellamy upfront though but Bellamy's knees aren't up to it :-(

BTW I make up my own mind instead of following the flock.

Reg wrote:Yeah but Carroll and Luis didnt gell did they, they're not complementary, Suarez is too jinxy and Carroll is not nimble enough to feed off Suarez.

If the two aint compatible (which so far it certainly looks that way) then its adios Andy.

This team must be built around Suarez. The ball must be played on the floor, no launching it (unless its plan B and we go direct late on).

With Barca they build their team around Messi. Any player doesnt compliment that they soon depart (Ibrahimovic).

The question is can Carroll improve eniough to play in a passing team. It remains to be seen, but we cannot afford to spend three years hoping (like we did with Heskey) as we need performances now. We know he can win flick ons, we know he can get on the end of stuff aerially, and swing his left foot, but hes been here a year now and has to start showing something hes yet to show in his career.

anyway i thought he was excellent. easily his best display since destroying city at anfield last season. he needs a decent run of games now and that's the level he has to try and maintain.

onwards and upwards.

Please stop using Newcastle as an example. They finished midtable with those methods. Furthermore Kenny has stated we dont play like Newcastle.

If Carroll cannot adapt to a higher level of play with us, then he wont be here long. Its he who has to adapt to us (raise his game), not us adapt to him (and lower ours).

We start launching it up to him (ala Newcastle) and hoping for knock downs, if that is really the method u are advocating, then we might as well pack up now and go home. Suarez, Bellamy, Gerrard do not play this way, no top team does. Its up to Andy to become better on the ground and raise his game, not expect others to lower theirs to cater to him.

I'm not worried about Andy. He should be able to learn a new part to his game. When Peter Crouch played for us we always punted it high to him, but he actually always claimed to prefer it played in to his feet. Andy is a stronger player, so if he can add a some agility to his game, tune up his touch, he should be able to cope just fine.

Andy's is again victim to those around him and the coaching staff and manager. When you have the big man up there, as with Crouch, or Heskey, the whole club suddenly becomes obsessed with the route one system. Under Kenny we often do that, but it's nice that we do also see some nice pass and move.

I'm happy. Seems we are learning to mix it up a bit more these days.

Against Wolves who I accept are not good we certainly didn't just play long ball. Andy was very useful. Superb turn to lose their defender could have got him a goal. He is looking better and I will be delighted if Benny proves my original assessment to be wrong!

Noticed (as did the commentators) how often when in/around the box he knocked a ball down but there was no red shirt to take it on. Obviously support for those knock downs needs to be worked on.

yeah that was really frustrating, especially in the first half. it was almost as if our midfielders were scraed of getting into the penalty area. the one time adam did we should have had a stonewall penalty.

Ya, the midfield is just as much our problem as Caroll.
Too slow, too scared to get into goalscoring situations it seems.
Just don't rate any of our midfielders to do that except Gerrard, and only if he deployed in an advanced position.
