Lfc's current dealings suck.. - Discuss !

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby bunglemark2 » Sat Jan 21, 2012 1:45 pm

I've been thinking about this the past few weeks and I believe we have our priorities all over the place at the moment.

1. We sign a new kit deal for 150M - great. So what ? We get a pile of cash....to do what with exactly ? Are we going to invest it in a new stadium ? Is it intended to raise the profile of the club with whoever/wherever wears Warrior sporting wear ?
What's the benefit to the club where it matters most - on the pitch. How is it going to translate into winning what matters - Champions League, the Premier League etc....I don't get it.
2. We see ambassadors for the club all over the world at the moment - Egypt, India etc. What for ? Are we scouting for talent ? Are we trying to sell LFC merchandise to generate revenue ? Do people in these places "really" have the spare cash to but a whole lot of LFC merchandise ? I spend a lot of time in India these days and I for one doubt that very, very much...
3. Transfer dealings. What is the point of signing bucket loads of kids when they won't be ready - IF they make it at all - for the first team for years to come ? Have the fans really got the patience to wait for a 14 year old from Norway who "might" make it ? Meanwhile we slip further and further behind all the others in the league, we lose out on Champions League football, we lose both international prestige and revenue - it's all wrong IMO.
4. The Suarez fiasco. A total f.uck-up IMO. The club embarrassed itself - the less said the better.
5. The stadium. Does ANYONE know what or even if there is a plan ? Every other club we compete with has more capacity = more matchday revenue. What the f.uck are we doing ?

Replies appreciated.

Can't address all your questions BUT it does seem to me that there's a load of Newkit members who would be happier at an "Accountants" convention than they would be at at game.

FK me, I'm tired of reading threads that revolve around money money money

Yeah Bungle, I don't disagree. Just p'ssed off that lately we seem to spend more time talking about ££££££££ than we do the actual footy and players.

Mate, I'm fed up at some of the players that pass as good enough. I'm tired too of the Downing/Carroll/Adam/Henderson etc... threads. We're far far behind even Newcastle with their smart dealings. All the players they signed who made an immediate impact......it's a long way back, or so it seems. Maybe there IS a cunning plan and the owners are keeping us all in the dark.....I'm clinging to that anyway ! :D

forgot your hapy pills this morning, mate? :D

the kit sponsor deal looks like an excellent bit of business to me. adidas decide to feck us off, so we go out and get another deal which is worth wwaaayyyy more money - the most lucrative in the league to be exact. what we spend this money on is another question - the good news is that we will have it.

nothing wrong with nurturing the global fanbase either. despite the widespread poverty in india which you've obviously seen there is also an extensive middle class as well who have disposable income. there's a population of well over a billion, don't forget. if we can get a fiver each from 1% of them its 50 million quid.

this is the one that irks me the most and has led me to lose a lot of respect for Kenny for showing no leadership in crisis.

The club should have done and said NOTHING in public until the hearing. Instead we made ourselves look like classless tw@ts

FAO woof woof..

On a footballing note, add point:
6. We play shyte football at the moment too. Fookin' poison, to be honest. This crop of signings by KK is an embarrassment - most of today's worst players were his. WTF ??

IMO the club is being run brilliantly. I agree, the Suarez thing was handled very poorly, but other than that things are looking good.
Ian Ayre in particular deserves a massive pat on the back. We not only have the most lucrative kit deal in the premiership, but also second only to Barca in world football.
For a team not even playing in Europe that's quite extraordinary really. Signing all these youngsters is a brilliant way of going about things. Some of them will be top, top players for us, some wont make it of course, but that's the way it goes.
With Borrell and Segura running things though, I believe we'll see some great successes come from the academy. Sterling, Suso, Morgan, Pelosi, O'Hanlon, Ojo, Coady, Ibe, Flanno, Robinson, Wisdom etc. etc. etc. are all looking very promising. Without Man City/PSG type owners, buying promising youngsters is our best bet.
I know it's been a long wait, but good times are just around the corner.

Wish i could share your belief !

We have been hoping fir good times again for the past 20 odd years really, havent we?

Ok we have had some special cup runs, and have hung around the top four admirably, but the crown evades us, evans came close, rafa came close but in the end we were 2nd best.

The current team is mid table fodder. I dont care how many point off of fourth we are! We will never show a consistency to get there.

Back four  and suarez/lucas aside, we are woefull.

No pace
No creativity
No movement

Is money the answer? Probabbly not, unless we can afford to buy five or six established world class players, which we cant, so we have to look to our youth for inspiration.

Forget money.

Money IS the answer, mate. We're not up to our nads in debt. No, we don't have some rich arab sugar-daddy to bankroll the club, but if the owners were to invest, say, 50-60M on 5 or 6 new players, would they make a difference ? Pretty sure they would and pretty much straight away. Course, we'd have to make way and shift some of the dross we have right now.....and we'd probably get feckall for them now.

True, but how much do you really think they'll chomp up in a year?

KK has alrady :censored: away 80 million on deadwood and it's just for KK to go to the owners 6 months later and ask for another 80 million?

Yeah, right. You have to lie in the bed you make and now KK will have to do just that.

Sick and tired of all the excuses KK gets for us finishing midtable.
It was Roy's 6 months that made it acceptable to be a midtable club now, when it was a disgrace when Rafa finished the same place 6 months earlier.

The fact is we played well at the end of last season, with players like Spearing and Maxi playing.

Then KK bought Caroll(was practically injured all the time in the spring), Downing, Henderson and Adam for 80 million to improve our attack.

They have been constantly played and have scored like 3 goals and 3 assists between them. That is a ******* disaster!
Hence we have scored 25 goals!

Everyone is :censored: at Rafa for Keane and Aquilani but they produced! No good enough, but they produced!
And they were exceptions as most of his signings were great.
With KK it's the other way around where Suarez is an exception.

What I wanted to say is that we played well atr the end of last season and had an idea to build on and then we :censored: away 80 million and goes backward.
We just can't afford to :censored: away 80 million like City. It will hurt us like hell.

I don't care if Jesus himself is managing the club, it is not acceptable!

If you don't like what we are doing with points 1 & 2 then I suggest following a lower league side without global ambitions.

Thats another thing Penguins that pisses me off about the "faithful" why was Rafa, our best manager since Paisley critised so much for his signing of Aquilani (injured at the time) used as a stick to best him out the club with by an alarming ammount of our supporters and Kenny wasnt for signing Carroll? Atleast Aqua is a top class player ( look at him now for AC) Like u say aswell Rafa made more great signings (first teamers) then bad ones.

Yet the "faithful" dont give Kenny the same stick for spunking away 80 million in the summer, they blame Commoli. If u think Adams, Carroll, Downing where the type of signings Commoli makes then u dont know :censored:.
