He misses:
3 Jan 2012 Manchester City (A) FA Premier League
6 Jan 2012 Oldham (H) FA Cup
11 Jan 2012 Manchester City (A) Carling Cup
14 Jan 2012 Stoke City (H) FA Premier League
21 Jan 2012 Bolton (A) FA Premier League
25 Jan 2012 Manchester City (H) Carling Cup
31 Jan 2012 Wolves (A) FA Premier League
6 Feb 2012 Tottenham (H) FA Premier League

A replay against Oldham would mean he’d be able to play against Spurs

I am glad its over and its a clever statement which shows they have not climbed down but want to move on.

I do feel that had they been more composed over the matter initially they may have been able to continue with an appeal.

At this point it was damage limitation PR wise because their initial response left them open to attack and with no way of continuing the case without being torn apart by the media and football family in general.

here's what Luis said:

Hello everyone,

First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for all the support I've received these past few weeks. To my family, friends, mates of Uruguayan team and its staff and of course to the Liverpool F.C. (workers, coaches, managers, my teammates, and all who are part of the day-to-day life of this great club), and, of course, all the fans who never once allowed me to feel alone for even a single second throughout all of this. These past days, I have felt the meaning of that support more than ever: You never walk alone.

As many of you know, I was born into a humble family in a working-class neighborhood of a small country. But born and raised with the values of respect, politeness, and sacrifice. My family, from the very first club where I started playing up until my move to Europe, have instilled the values that have shaped the person I am today. Let me be absolutely clear: I've never -- ever -- had a single racial problem with any team mate, player, or person with a skin color or race different from my own. Never.

As a result, I am very upset about what has been said about me in recent weeks, all of which have been very far from the truth. This is further compounded by the helplessness I feel for not having done anything yet being accused of something I did not nor would ever do. In my country, the Spanish word for “black” is a term commonly used and does not symbolise any disrespect, let alone racism. Everything that has been said beyond that is completely and utterly false.

I will comply with the sanction, but with the acquiescence of someone who has not done anything and who feels extremely upset about what has transpired. I’m sorry for the fans and for the teammates who I will not be able to assist in this coming month. This will be very difficult for me.

My only wish is to get back to the stadium and do what I like most again, that is, to play football.

Thank you all very much,
YNWA
Luis Alberto Suarez.

:bowdown

He's humble and definitely acknowledges our support. now for the small matter of Man City to deal with. I quite like how the club have acted since the statement was released. I genuinely think there were grounds for appeal but it should never have been dragged on. Sanity prevails. YNWA

i cant see Luis staying beyond the summer, for two reasons. 1.English crowds are vile, he will get slaughtered at every ground. 2.he feels an injustice has been carried out so wont have any faith in the English governing body.

The club has done everything right in backing him to the hilt (he will be grateful to the club for that),  tho i personally would have sought to fight this all the way since we feel an injustice has occured.

I don't see him leaving. I can bet there's a lot more than England know about this

first sentence i will ignore.

Second, no other country is as tribal as England. Its one of the only places in the world where fans wouldn't cheer a rival teams player when wearing the national shirt. English fans are vile, Luis will get savaged.

If Luis had thick skin then he can deal with it, but hes the type that gets agitated.

here he has the whole of Ghana calling for his head already, I'm pretty sure he can handle it. He won't get savaged, not even close. The whole thing will be forgotten when he's been back for 5 games. Chill

btw the happiest person is only me  :D

It's a good statement from the club and a great statement from Luis Suarez. Liverpool decided not to appeal because they don't want to put extra pressure on their reputation, which is fine.

We move on

Probably the sensible option I think. By my recollection, the best we could have hoped for on appeal was a reduction in the sentence and even then a minimum three game minimum would still have applied. Reading the report it's clear that the Commission weren't likely to change their minds on the matter and in my opinion it was not worth risking the appeal being rejected and the perception of Suarez as a racist being affirmed. The statements remind everybody that neither the club nor Suarez accept the decision but that they would sooner put it behind them.

glad it's over, to be honest, so lets move on and forget about it.

Give the lad 2 weeks off to get some rest...we'll need him when he's back

The only thing I think we should have and pay for with taxes is police, national defense and the justice system. Therefor discrimation in those fields should be off limits too.

I'm of the opinion that anyone have the right to be a racist and even say what they want to anyone. I don't want to hang around racists and I wouldn't support a racist company financially because it's just damn stupid.

If some :censored:whit wants to start a club for only whites let them do it. If anyone wants to start a club for only black people let them do it.

Positive discrimination or whatever they call it is just discrimation towards another group of people. The best person  will in my society get the job and if he doesn't get it it's their loss and he will be successfull somwhere else.

In this case Suarez would loose some credibillity with his fans... sell less shirts etc. The clubs looses money etc etc. The FA are a bunch of useless maggots but ofcourse Suarez should get some :censored: for behaving like an idiot. That goes for Evra too.

Nobody is saying that people should be prohibited from having racist thoughts. You seem to be arguing, however, that people should be allowed to treat people differently, or to discriminate directly against them because of the colour of that person's skin.

If society operated along those lines, racism would be allowed flourish.

it'll be a big decision to start him against utd. he'll get wound up something chronic. gotta make sure his heads in the right place for it as he'll be baited by utd players and the crowd for the whole game. I would start him, but he'll have to control himself, no matter what is thrown at him
