If I can't mention Carroll

then I can only say Henderson was not worth the 20 Mil so far. His actual worth would be closer to 5-6 Million pounds by looking at his performances only.

Who knows though by seasons end we might all be praising how good Henderson was & how his wonder goals got us into the top 4

Its a fuuny one though isnt it... A strong case could be made for 3 out of our 4 main signings. Meanwhile, the other 2 are nowhere near ready so they cant even be considered in a worst signing list .

Henderson :worst value for money given what hes shown so far.
Performance wise, he has been disappointing overall and at 21, for me that 'potential' that people bang on about should show little more when hes on the pitch.

Adam : Perhaps the most unneeded transfer given what we had at the club
Performance wise, he has been disappointing overall but given what we paid for him, he makes a decent addition to the squad but perhaps not the starting 11.

Downing : Out of all our transfers, hes the one to have not lived up to his potential the most
Performance wise, he has been disappointing overall but the manager and while he does have to take some responsibility for his poor displays, the manager hasnt done him many favors by moving him around the pitch as much as he did.

Overall Verdict : Charlie Adam.
Not only has he failed to make an impact so far despite playing almost every game, his acquisition was also the main reason we let players like Meireles and Aquilani leave the club in the summer.

Too early to judge on our players though I be guessing if Kenny wasnt the manager there be a few more who would be offering an opinion.

Worst signing ? Christ ! they've all been a disappointment .

Never expected much from Downing, when we signed him I railed against it, labelling him "the nearly man" nearly very good but not quite. He nearly made me eat my words raising his game with some very good early performances but subsequently fell back to his familiar comfort zone of being just average.

Henderson, has shown some flashes of talent but the lad is still learning his trade, so far a disappointment but wouldn't class him as the worst signing.

Adam, there's talent inside this fella but since he started wearing our shirt that talent is struggling to get out, another disappointment but again I would call him our worst signing.

Carroll , I know he was signed in Jan but given all the stuff that was going on when he joined us, didn't want to leave Newcastle, his injuries etc etc I looked at him as a "new" signing at the start of this season. So far a major disappointment and in my book far and away our "worst" signing this year. The fella's got ability but we've seen far too little of it. Maybe like other talented players before him (e.g Morientes and Keane) he's just not destined to cut it at Liverpool.

Disclaimer. It's still early days, although so far a disappointment I'm not calling for any of these players to be shipped out, instead I'm hoping that they'll all find their form and step
up their game. Come the end of the season will be the time to judge who's been worth it and who hasn't.

no it wasn't.

aquilani wanted to return to italy and depending on what reports you believe, meireles wanted to leave aswell.

Its still early but so far Enrique is the only one of our summer signings that have proven to be a genuine improvement over what we had last season.

no it wasn't.

They were both told they wouldnt be first team regulars

So many to pick from.

Even though Adam has been poor we have got what we paid for:
One 8 million player, nothing more nothing less.
A squad player pick for a starting role is not his fault.

If Caroll could be pick he is the clear winner here. We got taken to the cleaners as he is of Crouch quality imo and worth around 10-15 million. Never going to score 20/season ever let alone 15.
Will probably be sold in a few seasons for 10-15 million.

Henderson edges this one I think as we sold Meireles and paid 5 million and got him. He is looking like he might be able to deliver decently in a few years but that is totally wrong thinking playing a player that will "develop". FFS, are we Bolton or what??

Downing is your average PL winger who isn't worth more than 15 million but Villa had all the aces so we overpaid a little.

But I don't see one huge summer singing that failed, it is more the fact that practically none tunred out well(ok, except left back) and we :censored:

away a fortune and got rid of Meireles and Aqualini for pennies just to accommodate the new singings...

Crazy to hear paople expecting more spending in January to rectify the expensive mistakes we have made this year.
It doesn't work that way unless you are City. You have to lay in the bed you make.

Rafa got jack **** in hist last season losing Alonso and getting nothing and was sacked after 1 poor season before getting the CL, the FA cup and finishing 2nd. All on a budget that dwarf this year. And still everyone screams for more money.... :suspect:

For me its Downing.

His contribution is on a par with Joe Cole's last season. When you spend 20million or so on a winger you expect creativity and quality balls into the box, downing has not done this to the standard of what his price tag demands. If you stuck your average fan on the pitch im sure he/she would manage maybe one decent ball into the box.

Downing goes missing from games and has minimal effect in the final third. Adam/carroll and henderson have chipped in with the odd goal, downing doesnt even have that to show fir his numerous appearences.

Henderson, not just because of how much we paid but because he isn't the creative player with pace we needed.
