Of our summer signings (not last Jan) who has been the biggest waste of money in your opinion and why?

Jordan Henderson, Hes seems a pretty average player, very overpriced, we didnt need him and the money could of been spent on other areas of the team that really need improvement like the right side midfield, upfront and central defence. When he signed him, we had Aquilani and Mereirles on the books, who are both much better players in my opinion. All the other signings we made i can see the thinking behind them, but with Henderson the only reasons seems to be that he is young and English, with a decent reputation. Reminds me of the signings Commoli made for Spurs like Darren Bent and David Bentley, both expensive flops spurs didnt need at the time.

I don't think any of the signings were a waste but if i need to rate them thus far:

Henderson is the worst performer ,kid seems overwhelmed and totally lost and if you consider his price tag then yes he is at the bottom.

After that i would put downing ,not because he is terrible but because of what he is capable of doing and fails thus far ,i rate him the 2nd most talented player after Suarez in the team and that is why is such a disappointment.

Adam of course ,unable to bring a consistent positive games and through out a game ,disappeared way too much for me ,but again his smaller price tag puts him above the others.

On a complelty different scale and a huge positive side is Enrique ,superb and surprising for me at least. Solid confident ,strong and skillfull ,great performances thus far. Only 2nd to Suarez in MOTSeason.

Coates ,can't tell didn't play that much.

Alexander Doni – He’s not kept a clean sheet all season!  :D

Quiet a negative question, but I’ll run with it

Summer signings:

Stewart Downing (Liverpool, £20m)
A good start, but has fallen away in games of late. 0 goals and 0 assists so far

Jordan Henderson (Sunderland, £16m)
Looked a little lost in early games, but is showing signs of improvement in recent games. Still only 20 (same age as Coates)  and one for the future, but hasn’t really had the impact he wanted

Charlie Adam (£7m or £9m depending on source)
Looks ok, divides opinion. Great set piece taker, but not ‘great’ at anything else. A good performer all round, but not great.

Jose Enrique (Newcastle, £6m)
IMO best buy of the summer transfer window, some good performances in what’s been a problem position for years.

Alexander Doni (Roma, free)
Not seen him play, signed on a free as a backup, hard to say he’s a bad purchase

Sebastian Coates (Nacional, undisclosed)
Looks ok in the couple of games he’s played in. A couple of mistakes, but that can come from learning in a new league. Other than the ‘keeper Doni, he’s the only one of our 7 summer signings who hasn’t played in the premier league before.

Craig Bellamy (Manchester City, free)
Done well in the little game time he’s had – scored in both of the games he’s started

It kinda goes without saying that all signings need time to bed in, learn new tactics and how to play with our summer signings.

My most disappointing signing so far? – Downing. Commanded the biggest transfer fee and hasn’t yet shown us his greatest form. Could argue that Ashley Young, Adam Johnson, Jonas Gutierrez have all played better in the first 10 games of the season.

That said, I’m not for one moment doubting his ability or saying he’s cr@p, Just he’s been my biggest disappointment so far

far too early to judge. all of them so far, bar enrique, have been hit and miss but i'll wait till the end of the season before passing judgement. if we get in the top 4 and win a cup nobody will even mention the prices these players were brought for. the likes of carroll and henderson were brought for 5 years minimum so judging them after 10 games is laughable. maybe those who have already written them off should be managing the team instead of kenny who is obviously clueless.

no player is bought for 5 years minimum, that statement is 'laughable' if the both of them continue to play at there current levels they wont be here for longer than 2 years. At least they are showing signs of improvement, but i cant ever see Henderson being any more than a Lucas level player and i have serious doubts that Carroll will ever be a world class player, which is worrying considering we paid world class prices for both players.

Too soon and too hard to say. But if I have to say it would be Adam. Henderson comes close, considering his big transfer fee which he hasn't lived up to yet, but he's 20 and we can all see that the kid has talent and I have some feeling that in the near future Henderson will be an important player for us. As for Adam, he didn't come for a big fee but as I see it, if it wasn't for him Meireles, who's actually better than Adam, would have probably still be a Liverpool player. His performance isn't quite satisfying either. Downing is another player who hasn't lived up to his price  yet, but I think that his current form is only temporary and he'll get better sooner than both Adam and Henderson.

I'll wait till May, but few of the signings need to step it up.

My only worry for now is Andy Carroll

well if that would make him good enough to be a regular in the brazil squad than that'll be fine by me.

None imo, and I wouldn't be making such conclusion after only a few months anyway. FFS What happened to giving someone a full season to bed in.

So does Kenny take some blame for signing him? Come on out with it. I remember the stick Rafa got for Aquilani.

Downing is the biggest culprit so far
He has the most prem experience and is turning into the invisible man right before our eyes

Weird one Downing. At the start of the season he looked to be the most settled of all our new signings. But he's sort of wandered off since.

If he plays on the left every game he will do what he does best, Downing is the archetypal 7/10 player, rarely better or worse, when played in his correct position, and with players who attack the box. At the moment we have some decent new signings not always playing in their favourite positions. Kennys fault, yeah you can say it.
