Raul Meireles - Rent Boy Mark II

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby Greavesie » Thu Sep 01, 2011 12:08 am

I'm only really bothered that we didn't have time to replace him. I reckon he can easily be replaced if only we were given the time to do so.

Not particularly creative, not defensive at all and doesn't have a great passing range. He's industrious, likes getting forward and is usually in the right place at the right time but I don't see where that fits into Chelsea's plans

Anyway, once Stevie gets back we'll be fine. Also little Jay and Jonjo get the chance to get some minutes under their belts and they deserve it, they want to be here and there's only one way they'll develop

agree with Mick  :)

we move on. the only players who are important are the ones who want to play for liverpool. mereiles clearly didn't.

but to CHELSEA??  Fine if he wants out....but selling him to one of our rivals? :no

Sad hes gone if I'm honest, but if he wasn't in Kennys long term plans then time he was moved on.

Has Kenny got rid of ALL roys signings?

I don't for one bit like this favouritism.

but what came first the chicken or the egg

It's been well known Chelsea were hovering around, did they turn his head first then Kenny think 'well b0llocks to you'

Did Raul see competition for places and poo himself?

Did Kenny prefer the British lads?

Or did Raul simply want to link back up with Villas Boas - the man who was quick to feck him off to us only last summer?

There's loads of ways to look at it

I prefer this one:

He's a kunt

Feck him, he looked very frail physically anyway. He can warm Chelsea's bench as much as he likes.

The annoying thing is the timing of the sale, we have no chance to replace him, so i hope the fee screwed them to the wall.  Meireles is far from average, and was one of the very few players in the squad who has excellent technique and imagination. He would have linked up very well with the forward play, look at the end of last season, a more offensive approach brought out the best from him. The player is class, bit of a cun7 to leave in the last 30mins, and bit of a knob to think chelsea really want him, it's like pulling the fat bird when you've had no luck and the clubs about to close.

he's gone for 12 million...pretty much what we paid for him.

he's not going to improve them. he's not what they need at all in the same way that torres wasn't. a blind man can see that. they need flair and guile. the majority of chelsea fans seem to be underwhelmed by the signing to say the least.

chelsea have now given us over £60m since january. that has effectively got us downing, suarez, coates, adam and enrique. i'll settle for that to be honest.

I completely agree

Raul won't start for them. One of the posters on the Chelsea site were saying he linked up well with Torres? REALLY? when the fook was that?  :D

Read from some stats guy thingy that he made less tackles than he did make appearaneces as well, he certainly isnt defensive.

I always said I never really knew what he was good at, I did want to keep him though, if only for numbers and to offer a bit of industry going forward

Overall we've had an awesome window, shipping out the deadwood alone is a joy, nevermind having all evidence of Roy destroyed!  :D

My only gripe is the timing, I'm sure Commolli would have loved to have had the time to replace him but hey ho, he decided to do a Judas on us, feck him I'm sure he won't be missed

Just read that over on rawk.

If you are going to sell players to chelsea then give them poulsen or ngog, you dont give them players like Meireles.

I can see this sale biting us in the @ss.
