I always like players with a football brain and RAUL MEIRELES  defo has one you can always tell with players like him, I personally think he is more like Alonso than Masha from what I've seen of him. I know we are doing sh!te at the mo but I have a feeling things will pick up so chins up and just give some of these players and manager time to bed in.

Just hope we don't continue to use him up front, I think we'd see the best out of him in the middle alongside Lucas.

Was very impressed with him today, he shouldn't of played in the hole. But he has plenty of ingenuity about him, great footballing brain and did some very clever passes. Wasn't afraid of how big the game was either, certainly seems like we've got a great player for a good price. He's on the same wave length as Gerrard and was looking for space a lot, when it went 2-2 Man U were incredibly worried about Meireles and Gerrard. So far what i've seen i like him, he's a different player and gives us a different dynamism.

Loved his hand in our second goal as well: standing next to the wall and then pushing into Fletcher before springing off him.  I think Fletcher pushed back to compensate and left the gap that Gerrard arrowed the ball through.  Clever. :nod

Very very intellegent player!

His pass and move is what we need to unlock defenses. He has a brilliant first touch, a bit similiar to joe cole's in that he is very comfortable to make a short flick that connects nicely into another players path.

Loved how he forced Fletcher out of the wall! Veeery smart

His first touch reminds me of Aquilani but he runs around a lot more, he has a great engine on him and just loves to move about, he just gets the team moving.

Clearly planned and well executed training ground move - very nice to see.

Looks a very good player - being played in wrong position thou - he should be a bit deeper and feel he could control the game - hopefully that is where manager sees him playing eventually as he eases him into life in prem

Spot on Benny. Get him paired alongside Gerrard with Stevie the more offensive minded of the two and we have a quality pairing. You could see the quality of Meireles yesterday he has very quick feet, a good footballing brain, always to looking to give & go and so on.

He'll be a fine player for us.
