....and we'll be rightly stuffed when both him and Suarez go AWOL at the same time when there's an international match....or some equally poxy round-robin tournament down there.

No more than we did for Kuyt and Babel or like will will with Gerrard, Downing and Hendo in the future

its the same problem for every club

Ya 2 is nothing... If we look at who England could properly call up then  you're talking Gerrard, Johnson, Downing, Carroll, Hendo right off the bat, plus Kelly has been getting some recognition from Capello as well... So that's 6 players gone right there.

Here's the thing,

England's games don't clash with premiership games. Players who represent African or South American national teams are likely to get called away whilst premiership games are active.

But yeah, I'd rather have players like Suarez missing for a couple of games than not have him at all.

Little more from BBC Sport:

Uruguay defender Sebastian Coates appears set to move to Liverpool after his club told BBC Sport they will make a decision this week.

The £12m-rated Nacional centre-back, 20, impressed in Uruguay's Copa America triumph in July and is keen to join compatriot Luis Suarez at Anfield.

"An offer arrived from Liverpool," said Nacional chief Daniel Enriquez.

"We will discuss the final details of the transfer and an announcement will be made soon."

He added: "It's an interesting offer and the player is interested in playing in English football and Liverpool seem like a proper club."

Coates would be Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish's sixth signing of the summer.

Dalglish is keen to strengthen his defensive resources after Greek defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos left for Wolfsburg on a free transfer and 6ft 6in Coates, 20, is seen not only as another quality addition but also a sound investment for the future.

Manchester City have been strongly linked with Coates but Liverpool are now firm favourites to add him to Dalglish's other summer signings, midfielders Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing, goalkeeper Doni and defender Jose Enrique.

Adding another centre-back became Dalglish's top priority after completing their deal with Newcastle United left-back Enrique.

soccernet is reporting too... but they said our bid is 8 million pounds... which is not bad... I just hope City doesn't hi-jack the transfer...

some good quotes below:

*************************************

But Nacional vice president Olmes has confirmed the Liverpool bid - thought to be around £8 million - has them in pole position to sign Coates and the player's father and agent, Peter, is reportedly heading to Merseyside to discuss personal terms with the Reds.

"The offer is very good. Surely Coates will go to Liverpool," Olmes replied when asked about Liverpool's interest.

And Coates himself has talked up the prospect of linking up with international team-mate Luis Suarez at Anfield.

"It's a club with great history and tradition in England," he told Ovacion. "Also, Luis [Suarez] would be a great help to me there. The offer suits all concerned, so it's fair to say it's a done deal."

Asked if he would prefer Liverpool to City, he said: "Yes. I would have to wait to see what City offer, but I think the presence of Luis would be very important in my decision. I have spoken to him - he contacted me and we chatted for quite a while.

"He's someone I know well. He's doing really well there and that's good for me because I'm joining a club with a Uruguayan presence."

On adapting to life in England, he said: "I don't care about the weather. When I get there, I'll get used to that and anything else as well. I'm more or less getting to grips with the English language, but I'll have to get Luis to give me a hand.

"There were many a lot of rumours that English clubs wanted me, but nothing concrete. Fortunately, I have now received an offer."
**********************************

Hopefully after this we'll get another striker... who's on the market now?

that's pretty much how I read it as well

Expect Aqua to make 24 appearances in Serie A next season  :D

So that's 3 different Serie A clubs in 4 seasons, does loyalty not matter much to them lot? I can't imagine a player like him going down to well over here tbh

Its actually not too unusual in Italy for a player to ply for 2 or 3 of the top teams during his career.  Crespo, Aqua are examples.  Even Pirlo, Seedorf

haha  :D

If I heard correctly, Aqua is going on a FREE loan, does this mean we pay his wages thru the 2011-2012 season?  If so Milan are getting away with murder here.  It would be worth it for us just to have him around as back up if he's going for nothing.  Couldn't you see having Aqua as the attacking midfielder for our cup runs?  add a few league fixtures in there and he's worth keeping, especially if the free loan deal is true.
