Downing and Adam would be 2 very good signings IMO. I don't really understand why people are so against signing them.

Downing would have been a great signing but since Villa are being such c'unts they can keep him, there is no way we should pay 20 mill for him. Mata would be great too, should be around 19-22 mill. but I prefer Downing over Mata even though I consider Downing to cost less than the Spaniard. Mata will be very difficult to get though. There is a very high competition for him from teams that finished higher in the league than us and can offer football in Europe. That's why I believe we'll go for someone that is not rated too high but is still a good player, like for example some mentioned N'Zogbia, who would cost us half the money than both Mata and Downing and will still do a decent job.

It's official, Charlie Adam having a medical at Liverpool FC today. LFC have agreed a fee (as yet undisclosed). Assuming the medical goes well, then he'll sign this afternoon.

As for Adam I think we should all forget about him atleast until we sort out the situation with Aquilani who looks more and more likely to stay with us. We have far too many midfielders, 8 I think at the moment (including Henderson and Poulsen who we still haven't sold to anyone) so unless we get rid of atleast two of them (Poulsen should go definitely and if we want Adam it's either Aqua or Meireles who has also been rumoured to be on our transfer list) and possibly send one on loan (Shelvey for example) it would be insane to sign another. Would love to see Adam here because I rate him high, but there is just no room for him at the moment.

Taken from the Blackpool Gazette:

BLACKPOOL have agreed a deal with Liverpool for Charlie Adam.

The Seasiders’ captain is on his way to Merseyside to complete a medical after a deal was struck on Wednesday morning.

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston is understood to have held fresh talks with his counterparts at Liverpool last night.

And the deal was agreed this morning.

The Seasiders are expected to receive somewhere in the region of £7m, as well as two players.

Deal (along with Downing) will be completed this week. Next it's Mata or Lennon (but not both) with Aquillani and Cole used as a makeweight for Lennon and Aquillani only a possible makeweight for Mata.

I'm not sure we were ever serious about signing him which is a shame... Going for around 10mill euros I think , which is an absolute steal. Top class defender.
