Especially when I assume there are other priorities such as a left back, centre half and wide players.

If he leaves I can see him going to Real Madrid.

From what I understand their isn't exactly a budget as such. If certain players become available the club are going to be right in the mix. Their is a lot of talk that we are VERY interested in Aguero and are willing to pay between £45-50 mil for him. Juventus, Chelsea, United, Real and City are all sniffing around. Their is also talk that we are having a serious go at getting Hazard as well, but apparently he prefers Arsenal.

I'm just getting this from that Tommo lad on twitter ( @pault86 ) who is apparently an ITK..so don't blame me if its all bullsh1t

It would be great if we are in the mix for this type of player I agree, but I just can't see it for another striker.

With the players many on here feel we need in a few positions if we do get another striker I would have thought it would be as a back up if the likes of Ngog leave.

It will cost enough for the 3 or 4 players we already need I would have thought.

Quite happy to be proved wrong though. I suppose it could depend on who leaves, we all have a view on who should.

Liverpool make their move for £20m-rated starlet

Liverpool have made a formal approach for £20million-rated rising star Eden Hazard.

Anfield chiefs asked the young winger’s French side Lille to keep them informed of all developments in the close-season chase for the Belgium international.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is ready to battle it out with other interested parties, such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid, for the signature of one of the finest new talents in European football.

Hazard won’t come cheap. He has been valued at £20million by Lille, and is sure to command a massive fee with such a clamour for his services from the top clubs.

Liverpool believe they may have an edge in their attempts to sign the midfielder though, as they have already illustrated they can give first team opportunities to young players.

They will offer the 20-year-old a fast-track into the first team and, even though the Anfield side will not be in the Champions League next season, that could persuade the player to ignore the more obvious claims of other clubs.

Hazard said this week he is ready to move to a “big club” in the summer, but in the past has insisted he is not motivated merely by money and will instead make the move based on a clearly defined career path.

Liverpool will not be put off by the size of the fee, because they are ready to spend big if the player fits in with their new transfer policy and, as a youngster with plenty of room for future growth, Hazard fits that profile perfectly.

He can play wide on either flank or in an attacking midfield role and is an ideal recruit for the Reds, who are looking for reinforcements in all those positions.

Hazard has a contract until 2015, but has indicated he will sit down in the summer and decide his future then, with a move now becoming increasingly likely.

Regarding Hazard, or anyone else - that's the key, having someone who can play both sides.

If we can get a wide player who can play on either wing it is such an advantage.

Think Hazard will be the fall back option if we miss out on Ashley Young or are we looking at Young AND Hazard? If so then great :D

That would pretty much blow the £50M transfer kitty  :(

so not great then?  :D

Young only has one year left in his contract. £15m I reckon, then £20m on Hazard.

If we have a £50m budget then we still have £15m left (I assume Enrique will take a chunk of that off) then we have loads of deadwood to ship out and get a few bob from as well

Exactly.  People seem to forget that part.  If we have 50million kitty, we still have player sells.  Aqua will fetch 15 himself, plus a whole bunch of other players going for possibly a couple million.  I suppose we could recoup about 25 million pounds.  That's 75 to spend, so if we got Hazard and Young (Personally I'd prefer Young and Mata) for 35, we still have 40 to spend on Enrique, Cahill and one other player.

Concerning  Aguero...

I doubt he will go to Madrid because he has been respectful to Atletico all this time.  I doubt he would go to their rivals like that.  He will probably end up at city or chelsea, or even Inter or spurs.  Tho him here would be incredible.

Who came up withthis £50 mill budget.  From what I understand no budget has been set.  If the right player is available we will be in for him.

I sometime think we forget FSG are BILLIONAIRES.  John Henry may only be a multi millionaire but he is only the principal owner.  No player is out of our reach, but our owners are sensible and will not do a Man City,

If Young and Hazzard are available for 35 million, this is a possibility, and then we can go out and buy a Cahill, Adam and a decent Left back
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Aguero's a red mate! Don't kill this for me!!  :D

I touted him a few weeks ago, that article made me chuckle with optimism

Feck Young, Hazard AND Mata!!  :buttrock  :buttrock  :buttrock

so that's Hazard, Mata, Aguero, Kjaer and Enrique. Sorted  :)
