Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

In todays market, I dont think his price is unrealistic, because of bloody cheatski and manc shitty prices are being driven up, No i dont want us to pay massivly over the odds, but i feel we need an injection of serious quality in the side, like I said before Its ok taking a chance on 4 players at 6/7 million each but not a lot of them work out and we end up with a no better squad.

Dont get me wrong, I think its a little steep however, if this is the man thats been identified as the player we need by the Club, we should go get him, he had a fantastic world cup and (although not a great marker) has performed in the Dutch league like a superstar, he was always going to be a lot of money.

Also, I believe these are the sort of players we should be signing to keep our stars on side that said they would stay if we invested in quality.

There's a difference between conducting all transfer business shrewdly and going all out to get in someone of real quality. If we were reigning champions and were looking to fresh blood then I'd say move on but Torres is crying out for someone of equal talent alongside him. And it's not like any other clubs will let alternatives with equally talented players go on the cheap.

I just think Suarez needs to be the exception.

Nan I reckon there are other bidders out there. Spurs have made a bid ad I wouldn't e surprised if there 1 or 2 others waiting till the last minute.

I dunno Bav, about this one to be honest id put the money on the table and tell them take it or leave it, and then go somewhere else, As far as i knowmate were the only club to have made a bid for him and that Ajax are playing games with us now,

I think this is a bit OTT. I'm all up for high profile signings but only if the price is right. I want this club to have stability as well as the best players

If we be silly with money clubs will play us on it
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I can see what your saying Greavsie, but i dont think this is silly money for that player, I think he will be a massive signing for us, will give Torres the much needed support he wants and also can give us more options if he performs like I think and hope he can.

In todays market (which is a silly fantasy land unfortunately) , if Bent is worth 24 million, this iguys is worth what they are asking.

He is also their star man, without him they will lose a goal a game, which equals a LOT of points, they have been simple, they dont want to lose that as it will be hard to replace, so if we want him,  show them the money that they CANT refuse, its the only way we will get him, like I said they dont wanna sell, have no reason to sell, therefore if we want him, we pay.

I do agree with you on that one OHR, I was saying at work if Bent is worth £24m then we'd have a bargain on our hands with Suarez. Your comment was more general tho thats all :D

but I do agree with you on the valuation point

I understand not paying over the odds but the reality is if you do not pay what clubs want for players that you need then we wont move forward. The leagues all about money and over the top deals. We are not in a position of power to go and buy bargains and integrate them, we need big hitters now to push on and thats big coin. If Fenway back off every time they feel a pinch Dagger may need to draw up a new list. Even Villa have gone for it. This is the first window we get to gaze and look at NESV and see if they can walk the walk and I hope they come through for us, theres still time ofcourse. This is their chance to deliver, a first opportunity to show they mean business and are here to win and get this club back on track and surely they have to go that extra mile this week to prove it.

Thats the problem, which is farking up football, you want even someone who MIGHT be good, you pay through the :censored: for them nowadays, I seriously cannot believe we got Miereles for 7/8 million, the sad thing is, these deals dont come along very often :(

The problem we have is Ajax have all the cards, they can say, hold on you paid HOW much for Poulsen and Konchesky??? :D

wasn't Miereles like 10.5 million?  Not much of a difference but he definitely seems worth it.  Ajax know they still have a week.  Both sides are trying to call the other sides bluff and neither have moved.  Ajax have said that they have a backup for Suarez, which means they are basically expecting him to go.  They want to hold on until the last minute, even though they said they won't sell Suarez with 5 minutes until the deadline.  If they can hold off, they feel they will be able to force us up.  I think our club is trying the same method.  If we buy Suarez with 5 minutes until closing, they will be able to purchase their backup because I'm sure they would have a deal set up and everything far before our own purchase.

Suarez wants to leave and unhappy players never do as well for the club as expected.  I have a feeling that one of two things will happen.  Either we will wait until the last day and both clubs will come to an agreement somewhere in the middle, or we will tell them to p!ss off with their ridiculous prices and we will end up buying some 22 or 23 year old striker that did decently in their league for about 12 million.  Somebody like Bryan Ruiz or Ola Toivenon (However you spell his name)

So we bid 12.7Mil for Suarez? Meh

Comolli must have thought he can get them to accept if he got them stoned. Honestly that's a joke if thats true.

As i said in another post hopefully we are throwing the bid that low initially so that when we put one in around 18m they will accept plus I think Babel will be thrown into the deal.

Hopefully that's the case mate. But at the same time I don't want us to spend too much time faffing around and then not leave enough time to go for a 2nd choice if that falls through.

If there interested then how come theve not put a bid in, considering our one was low, id of thought one of them would of bid more ,especialy Harry, meself personaly i dont think its worth getting into a bidding war,

Ey ar ill go 50 quid more than Kenny,  Thats all ive got in the brown envelope after being robbed of me wallet while trying to have a look for brasses. on a detour to look at Forlan

Start out low and build it up from there. No point in going in all guns blazing, having it rejected then having bugger all negotiation left.

Pretty much perfect business strategy. Pretty sure we can get this guy for under 20m€. if we do then its a job well done.
