very young manager.. loads of determination in him though, top manager in the making. He took a relegated threatened club to a respectable 7th position in the Portuguese league before moving to Porto. Now Porto are sitting 8 points clear at the top of the table and playing some nice football.

I dont like him because hes very stubborn/arrogant, confrontational and has a habit of jumping ship when he cant get his own way (not Benitez, O'niell)

OWEN COYLE TOPS LIVERPOOL LIST

Owen Coyle last night emerged as the man Liverpool want to replace Roy Hodgson
7th January 2011 By Kevin Francis
BOLTON boss Owen Coyle last night emerged as the man Liverpool want to lead the club out of their nightmare.

With Roy Hodgson likely to be out of a job within days, the Scot has emerged as the front-runner to succeed him.

He shot to the top of the short-list after Marseille boss Didier Deschamps and former Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard ruled themselves out.

Former manager Kenny Dalglish – an ambassador at the club – is the fans’ choice and Liverpool’s American owners are looking for a quick replacement.  He is likely to be turfed out after Sunday’s FA Cup clash at Manchester United.

The troubled Liverpool boss saw the words “Hodgson Out” daubed on the walls of the training ground yesterday.

The club’s bosses were ready to kick Hodgson into touch, but have decided to hang fire after Deschamps and Rijkaard ruled themselves out.

Deschamps led Marseille to their first French title in 18 years last year and also won the League Cup.

But last night he said: “When I talk about being the coach of Marseille in the new stadium, I mean it.

“It is an idea that pleases me. Now, 2014 is a very long way away in my profession.

“But I have said people should understand I am not a tramp. I proved it last year. I could have left.”

Rijkaard is unwilling to be parachuted into the job halfway through a season which is already going nowhere.

Now it is the name of the highly-regarded Coyle, whose team did so well despite losing at Anfield on Saturday, that is echoing in the Anfield corridors of powers......

Hi Red Beergoggles.............

I know your a matchgoer so you will understanmd what i mean when I tell you I've shared my preference with the lads who sit around me at the games and had the usual mixed reaction you get when having these types os chats on the terraces so to speak.

Some of them look at me like Im on medication and others give you that "Im thinking about what you have just said" look on their faces when I champion a certain "Paul Lambert", currently manger of Norwich as my choice.

I've heard  the  "we are a massive club" argument and  need a big name  argument but we have tried that and no doubt if we got a Low or O'Neil it would last about 18 months .........

As a club we need to think beyond one season at a time and in lambert you have a canny Scot who has taken Norwich (25K crowd every fortnight at home and sold out constantly so hardly a small club) from the bottom of Division 1 to the brink of the Premiership in 18 months. Hes done that buying players ona  bvudget who want to play for him and has never lost 2 games in a row whilst managing norwich.

Maybe not for now some might say but definitly one to watch.

Lets do something really brave and take a chance on him instead of this short term wonder fix mentality we seem to have at the moment.

We took a chance on a certain "Bill Shankly" once you know ......

Walk on ............

The Rijkaard Situation is an understandable one, he's probably of all the "free" coaches out there the one i'd take an appoint next in the Summer, if not sooner.

Reasoning is this;

As we all know in Europe most of the "Big" teams are run by a President, Milan/Inter/Bayern/Madrid/Barca, they appoint & sack Manager's for their own popularity as much as anything else, sometimes not for footballing reason's.

Rijkaard is a classic example won 2 La Liga's 1 CL, fired after losing a CL Semi to the Scum, Del Bosque at Madrid another, won La Liga's,Cl's, fired because he didn't win the CL in a year the President thought they should, later went on to win the World Cup.

Guardiola is taking a lot of plaudits and rightly so at Barcelona, but he inherited a very good team from Rijkaard, it was Rijkaard working together with the Youth & Reserve Team Coaches (Two of which are at our very own Academy!) that brought through the likes of Valdes,Puyol,Iniesta,Xavi & Messi through to First Team Football.

He's known and renowned for playing Attractive, Attacking Football, something we haven't seen for nigh on eighteen month's.

Above All else he's a winner and more importantly understands winning, both as a player and as a Manager, having played in a very good Ajax team and an excellent Milan Team winning league's and CL Trophey's.

The Winning Mentallity is very important imho, some well respected posters have given a shout for Owen Coyle, Ian's mentioned Lambert from Norwich, both good shout's, however they've never ever WON anything, we NEED a Manager who is USED to WINNING and above all else Managing a Club of the Stature of LFC, this next Fulltime Manager needs to have these qualities.

I say Fulltime Manager as the only course of action i think thats open to us and the Owners is to Sack the present incumbent after the next Match no matter what the outcome and appoint Kenny until the end of the season, he WILL steady the ship, no doubt about that, we will start to play more fluent, effective Football and god willing move up the table, if this happens with eighteen matches left we STILL have a top four in US.

In the Summer appoint Rijkaard, he's a Big name, with a Big Pedigree, not some sorry @rse with a tin of Chum under his arm called the LMA Trophey.

No offence, but I could manage Barca and win a load of games
"Give the ball to Messi"
"Attack Attack"
and thats it.

We don;t need a manager who is used to winning. We need a manager with passion and hunger who the club can get behind, the players will respect and will play good football, thats not too much to ask.
