Respect - Is hodgson being treated fairly?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby crim cram » Fri Nov 12, 2010 12:46 am

When Rafa came in we were six years less removed from winning the league, six years less desperate for the elusive title we all want.  We've just been through a horrible ownership fiasco and Hodgson has the "feel" of a manager here to steady the ship, not win a title.  Benitez was one of the most sought after managers at the time he was brought in, was Roy?  There was a lot of pats on the back for Roy from the media, but it seemed as if the appointment were some sort of reward, like a gold watch on retirement.

Hodgson has done himself no favors by some of the things he's said in the press, which inevitably erodes what is already fragile support.  I want to be proved wrong by Roy, I want him to succeed as manager here, but if we're not hovering around 5th or 6th by January, I expect the owners to make a move.

After Benitez won the Champions League (And FA CUP!) he was an untouchable god in the eyes of many Liverpools fans. Maybe if Hodgson can pull off a simular feat and secure a trophy he will silence the lynch mob surrounding him.

That is of course if Hodgson is around long enough to do that! :D

The reality is yes he had a lot of pats on the back from the media but he's already been shown up on more than 1 occasion this season not just in his conduct on the pitch but off it. And I see the media who were once jizzing over him were not so quick to jump on his case as quick as they were compared to someone else. Comprende?

As far as I can see it his days are numbered at LFC and I for one am glad. This club was supposed to start a new positive era under NESV. Instead we are having to sit and watch as Roy makes a show of the club in front of everyone. The only thing keeping him in a job right now is the fact that NESV only took over recently.

He may be a nice guy but a big club manager he is not. There is a reason he has managed mainly shyte clubs and that is that he is a shyte manager, negative tactics, a poor style of PR and a questionable man managment style. I'll still back him whilst he is here, but it doesn't mean I cannot have an opinion on him.

Tell you what mate if he did I would gladly hold my hand up. Can't see it happening though. He is 60 something and you can count his away wins on 2 hands. Something tells me he isn't the type to pull of that sort of feat.

The main argument against roy and why he isnt given respect from what I can gather, is because of his comments to the media.

Ok, but how many of them comments were twisted into negativity from our very own supporters in a tabloid-esque attempt to make him look bad? And of course the comments against rafa and the expensive flops?

That excuse falls on its backside for me. Simply put, he replaced rafa. That is why he has no respect.

Well if the new owners adopt an Arsenal type model for the club maybe results won't be the top priority(I know it sounds mad) but having a financially healthy business which does not include Man City type signings & player wages.

But you are right Hodson is gettin on and he looks burnt out after only a few months on the job.

The best answer, in the shortest possible way, on the first page.

Maybe you should have written an essay LFC2007.

I did read it. And Im still confused. Are you saying that Paisley, Fagan and Kenny didnt have respect from the supporters the instant they were announced manager??
Are you suggesting we had no respect for them until they had won 15, 20, 30 games or a trophy?
???

Yes they had the respect the instant they became managers - guess why Thommo ?

All three had already earnt the respect of the fans for the work they had already done at the club before taking on the managers job - same with souness same with evans .

Shanks earnt the respect after taking the job , same with GH and same with Rafa

Hodgson has to do the same

Roy has been treated exactly the same, and has been given an equal amount of respect and as big a chance by the fans as any other Liverpool manager. Obviously.

I absolutely despise the fukker.

Treating Roy Evans the way he did shows the scumbag piece of shitt that he is.

Also - why do people gloss over Souness selling a story to the sun about his mistress in 1992? great player, bad manager but that is just unforgiveable.

Your comments don't surprise me one bit......in fact I wouldn't expect any less from you,Jose :)

The respect that Paisley, Fagan and Dalglish were afforded immediately was due to their contribution to the club before they were named manager....and well deserved too!

Benitez got respect for the trophys he had won, the only accolade Hodgson harps on about is his LMA award, the same award that David Moyes has won 3 times.
Do you know why Hodgson got this award?
1. Part of the Fergie Wine Club.
2. Friends with the British media.
3. Got Fulham to the cup final that they lost in.

Wow big fucking deal, and you know what I am sick of pondering to the likes of you when you and others accuse me of lying about being sick and going on holiday because we beat Bolton & Blackburn.

Before you or anyone else harps on about respect how about starting with respecting your fellow fans I have made it clear since day one I didnt want Roy here and I still feel the same its my opinion and I am entitled to it.
But everytime I say it I get insulted and told to feck off and support someone else from people who are not even from Liverpool and some have never even attended a Liverpool match but have all to say :glare:

Dont insult my inteligence I am not fuckin stupid when I know something is wrong I will say it, and Roy Hodgson is the wrong man for the Liverpool job.
Me and others have spent the past three years campaigning getting rid of twit & tw@t whilst most of you sat around on your @rses and blaming everything on Rafa Benitez he was the devil incarnate to some on here and them gobsh!tes that ring Talksport.  We knew they where wrong for the club we know everything about our club, we protect it and look after it but I wont pander to this fraud of a manager we have incharge and I dont give two shits who I vex or please.

What has happened that all of a sudden we have to give Roy a chance when Rafa was lambasted for the same results and poor displays from his first season in charge to his last?
Was it because he was this nasty forigner ruining the beautiful British game of not buying young British talent? Was it the zonal marking? was it the rotation?
What was it? Why did he deserve it but Roy doesnt?

Whats so special about Hodgson? he has spent less time managing in England than any for foriegn, British or none British manager.  What exactly has his 35 years in management actually won him? Nothing of importance.

Where Chelsea, Man city, Spurs, Villa, knocking down Al fayeds door for him to manage them clubs?
The answer is NO !!!
Why is/was the answer No? Because he is not good enough.

When Fergie retires and Wenger goes on to pastures new will them clubs want Hodgson to carry on where their predecessors left off will they shite !!!!

Why not? Because he is simply not good enough.
He will never win us the premier league even if he recieved a Man City size transfer kitty, he will never win us the CL because his tactics and methods are so outdated he hasnt moved on with the times.

Apart from buying an ipad that the camera panned onto in the Napoli game heres a shot of it and this was at home but he's not a defensive manager according to some.

Image

He believes in his methods but they have won him nothing of note, he believes his own hype and gets a cob on when people question him as to why we where playing so shite he turns round and blames Rafa or his B team.

He has never remained at a club for longer than two years, not because he's been the most wanted man in Europe like Mourhino never stays in any place for very long, no because he was replaced because he wasnt up to the job.

People can twist and turn this anyway they choose but what must be remembered at the end of the day is liverpool exsists to win trophys and be the best around.
We dont want a manager telling us he doesnt give a monkeys if we are 17th or 18th, we dont want a manager who plays for a draw against Wigan.
We want to see exciting attacking football and goals galor not 10 men behind the ball ale house, yard dog Sam Allardyce football management and Roy is of the same Ilk.

Everyones crowing about the Chelsea win and I was over the moon myself but he had the odd scalp with Fulham against Liverpool and Man United, his away record scares the life out of me out of 72 points he's taken 12 and lost 60 this really concerns me a great deal its a dreadfull record and people should be as concerned as I am about it, but aparently not give him a chance get off his case are the replies.

I think Ive said enough about it now, I am sick and tired of moaning about him and I hope that John Henry and NESV bring in a new manager to take our club forward asap.

Dont bother posting about Rafa's record last season ive heard it enough, I know all about it finishing 7th was dreadfull, the draws where awfull and getting beat was even worse so dont bother telling me something I already know about thanx.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Kenny Dalglish 1/2/2011

i'm not entirely convinced that that is a picture of a starting formation or even an in-game set up, lynds. looks like defending a free kick to me. this one's up there with the quotes about being overstaffed but having little squad depth. no one can prove the context that the quotes or image came from but that doesn't stop them being used to disrespect the manager.
