I don't think there has ever been a foreign manager that has come into a side that has spend such vast sums of money both before and during their tenure so it's not really something you can compare in terms of past managers.

Put it another way. If Abramovich never bought Chelsea would he have won back to back leagues there? I don't think so.

No he wouldn't but would Ferguson have won all those leagues at west brom? no!

be honest, if you were a multi billionaire and wanted to buy a club (not LFC so don't use emotional krap), and you wanted a manager to spend 200m to make you the best club in the world, who would you get?

Simples....

:D  thanks Bob I was racing down to the bottom of the thread to get that little fact in! And honestly Drogba was hardly picked out of obscurity ffs he was eating and sh*tting teams on route to the UEFA cup final that season even scoring against and knocking out the mighty Reds on the way. Who'd Marseille lose that final to again?

Bav, I was giving Niall the benefit of the doubt and assuming he meant Ashley Cole (who Jose did sign) and not Joe Cole (who he did not). :D

Think this is my first or second post in this thread. I really think the issues with Jose are quite simple. Two main points.

Point One:
I don't care what club you are, if JM comes as your manager, you are virtually guaranteed to win trophies. FACT. Why?
Because he is a clever bugger. He will never join a club unless the conditions are right for him and he is in a position to dictate. Things like financial power, owner's support and his autonomy, salary, players, etc. If there's the right balance he will join.

Second Point:
If any or a combination of the above conditions change, he will walk. FACT. He's proven it. So it will a rare owner that will have JM long term, Imo.

So the only differentiating point is how he manages at these clubs. And so far noone can argue how successful he has been. But its hard to compare him across the board, as only a handful of managers has be able to dictate terms.

Regardless, I hate the b@stard.

Jose is afraid to take a difficult job.

Id like to see him manage Atletico Madrid or someone like that and try to topple Madrid and Barca on a budget.  Wouldnt happen.

if i had the choice to be the managing director of microsoft or the managing director of bob's burger van, i'd probably be afraid to accept the latter as well.
