When you strip out the posturing and the desperation to prove ourselves right, we come back basically to the same thing as far as Hodgson and Benitez are concerned, and I'm fecked off with the whole thing.
There's no need for me to even discuss my feelings visa vis Benitez because everyone knows what they are, so lets concentrate on Roy for a second. He comes in and makes the right noises, makes some sensible decisions about who to move on, who to keep, and talks our best two players into staying. Then he signs Joey Cole, and it all looks good.
From there though, it starts to go pear shaped. If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times, I'm not going to be a deny the sky is blue merchant, we are playing absolutely fecking sh!t. Some things may be beyond the managers control, that was as much true for Benitez as it is for Roy, but some things very definately ARE in their control and what we saw last season and what we are seeing now is a mile away from being good enough.
Lets look at it. We are conceding goals like there is no tomorrow, DESPITE hardly committing any players forward when we attack. If we were playing a Keeganesque up and at em style I could understand it, but FFS we barely break sweat and yet still get ripped up. The reasons? Well we have a holding midfielder in Poulsen (who I like) who is paceless and yet is getting pulled all over the fecking park. Half the time he is on either touchline putting in tackles and closing people down. It's almost like he's been listening to some of the people on here comparing how much he gets about the pitch to how much Lucas does. He should be sitting if he plays, connected by an umbilical chord to the centre halves. WTF is going on there, I'm no coach but fecks sake it is as plain as the nose on your face.
Then you've got the likes of Cole and Torres who aren't doing a tap defensively. Don't give me the nonsense about them being offensive players either, they need to put a shift in. Don't even get me started on Maxi as he is garbage in English football and should be heard but ot seen. You've got Skyrtel wandering around marking nobody, Johnson who looks about as much like a 17 million pound footballer as me, and the effort levels are about as low as I can remember.
Now here is the crux for me. Much of these problems were EXACTLY THE SAME LAST SEASON, but that DOES NOT MEAN IT'S OK FOR IT TO BE SO THIS SEASON. Rather than finding it "insulting" that people are questioning his methodology which has been built up over 35 years, Roy should be pulling his finger out of his ersehole and getting stuck into the players. They have collectively been tossing it off for far too long.
Whether it's Roy, or someone else to replace him, the fans HAVE to get behind the team in this time of strife. But it's a two way street. The team have to fight for the right to play, they've got to fight for the jersey and show some pride. Benitez couldn't get them to do it any more, and so far Hodgson hasn't managed to do it either. Like all Liverpool fans I can forgive a lack of quality for the most part, but a lack of desire is shamefull. Thanks be to feck we've got Gerrard, otherwise relegation WOULD be a possible scenario if we carried on like we are.
Anyway for those who have seeking the moment to proclaim that they "told us so", as far as odgsons suitability they are so far correct. What we now need, s for either the manager to prove them wrong or for him to feck off sharpish so someone else can. I've seen this dross and excuses for too long, get it sorted FFS.
