Taxi for Torres - judas fecks off to chelsea

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I said the same thing as Bigmick is saying about 3 months ago and I too got slated :D

Think about it, no matter how stupidly good Torres is, he can only manage around 20 - 30 games a season at the moment. For £80 million we could buy maybe 3 world class players that would be available for way more games.

the 80 million figure quoted is euros, closer to 70 million great british pounds sterling. basically its the price we have put on him and city are pretty much prepared to meet the price if he seems willing to move.

I think Torres will stay ...and when he has sufficiently recuperated from his World Cup exertions  ??? I reckon he will come out publicly and dismiss this wild conjecture and speculation and give Hodgson and Liverpool another season  :D I personally take great stock of the fact he came out and declared his love for the club and people of Liverpool ... and how he and his Girlfriend have settled nicely
I think the Lad has a level head on his shoulders and comes across as a genuine Guy ,I also believe he sets loyalty fairly high on his personal traits   :D

Sell for 80mill to anyone and invest all the money to buy quality new players and we'd be laughing....

Still wouldnt do it though... Torres is exactly the sort of player who could transform a side like MaCity to a club that dominates for years and years... Fck the money, hold onto him for another year and if the ownership situation is resolved then we can be in a better situation than they are regardless of the signings they make...

Totally agree, there's no way i would want to lose him, never mind it being to one of our main rivals for a top 4 position.
I also dont believe Roy would be given enough of the money to get in anywhere near the same calibre of player.

Its a no for me and that's even if it was 100 million.

But as the Manager has publically said there are issues torres has with the club.  What they are, we dont know but something has happened which has upset him.

Look no further than Purslow ,for me personally I find it a bit strange that Hodgson hasn't been allowed to sit down and talk for any great period of time with the Kid  ...and that all the negotiation seems to be solely conducted by the self appointed Witchfinder General and at some considerable  length it seems    ???

What good is it going to do, the money will go back to Twit and :censored:, a fraction will be paid of the loans and a fraction will be given to Roy.

As a fan what do you want.....one of the best forwards in the world playing for your team or 80 million or whatever it is going towards the two Americans. At the end of the day the club is still going to be up for sale and nothing will change except we will be down a world class player. If the club was sold and the offer came in then i suppose that would be a different story.

Keep him no matter what the offer because it will make feck all of a difference to out plight

Great post Michael my feeling exacly, i would not sell jim at any price,

And if  these offers are to be believed from Sabre the yanks , Broughton and Purslow must be licking there lips,

do fecking go nowhere Fernando lads your ours. and if they even try to tell you a big offer has come in tell the lot of them to do one,

And this,is just what i cant get me head around, we have a leveraged buy out merchant talking to our prized asset while the man who knows about football and what he wants to do and expects from the players is no were near him, And that is precicly what i think Roy was banging on about with the comment Fernando has beef with the club.

I think he made his own noice dont you by wearing our scarf on what i presume was the greatest day of his life, If them ba.stards listen to any offers for him they want lynching , i firmly believe he wants to stay, and will be absolutly gutted ,destroyed even if he goes,

Why hasnt that Purslow or Broughton come out and said hes not for sale at any price, When noises were made before we were straight on it . out saying hes not going nowhere . We want him here , the manager wants him here ,the other players obviosly want him here, but do the money men thats the question i keep asking myself

Nan, in the well publicised chat between Nando and Purstwat, just imagine if he was told

'The clubs kn@ckered, we cant find any buyers in this economic climate, Hicks is bust and we cant support the debt any longer. Basically LFC's going under. Your sale is now a necessity, you're our star asset and I'm sorry mate but we've gonna have to cash you in to stay alive'.

What now?

Well if he does  leave Girl... it has little to do with the Manager given the sparse amount of  communication they have actually conducted ... and another question I wouldn't mind someone answering  ... where are these negotiations with Purslow supposedly  taking place  ???

I wouldn't be surprised if Purslow has told Torres that the board will agree to him leaving provided another club can match a fee of at least £70 million or more. I think it could go either way and if he does go the issue will be how much of the money for Torres Hodgson will get to spend.
