I disagree Sabre. On paper England have a top 8 team and in stark reality, they're not even in the top ten. There's too many captains and not enough cooks in the England squad, it's all talk and sensational spin with these players, then when it comes to delivering they are nowhere to be found, but wet and dreary, clingly frantically to their proverbial life-raft.
The real problem is the English media and their influence, cut off their influence and then a manager can manage England without any shackles placed upon him. Let a manager play a different formation, a different style and with players who aren't considered the creme de la creme of English football. Had Capello had the backbone that his reputation in football suggests then he wouldn't have omitted Darren Bent, Tom Huddlestone, Adam Johnson and Scott Parker. Players who would have given more to England than seasoned International veterans like Wayne Rooney, like Frank Lampard, like SWP, Aaron Lennon and Gareth Barry.
I'd have even taken Bobby Zamora ahead of Emile Heskey, why? Because he was in form and in form players are always a safer bet than out-of-form part timers like Emile Heskey ect, but there you go. Zamora is not a household name, his house doesn't appear on Come Dine With Me, therefore he is not worthy enough to play for England. Total nonsense.
I expected us to go out in stylish fashion, but 4-1 is a bloody disgrace, I ended up putting on the Inbetweeners half way through the second half. Enough is a enough and English football from top to bottom needs a drastic overhaul.
The English way of playing is not a successful method, we need to learn how to keep possession, we need to have flair and drive in our play, we need to have consistency and urgency, passion and pride in ourselves. The players need to put down their £16,000 bottles of Champagne and in John Terry's case, his best mates girlfriend. Countries like Mexico, Chile, South Korea, Ghana and Uruguay have shown England up at this WC. These countries do not have superstar, £120,000 a week players and this is why IMO they have all had far more successful WC's than England.
