Should kewell play tonight?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby anfieldadorer » Tue Sep 28, 2004 7:33 am

Rafa must decide whether to plunge Harry Kewell into the Champions League clash with Olympiakos tonight.

He was heavily criticised for his unimpressive display in Liverpool's last away match at Manchester United, travelled to the Greek capital despite missing Saturday's 3-0 win over Norwich with a thigh strain. In his absence, Warnock played exceptionally well in the win over the Premiership new boys, and Benitez opted for a twin strike force of Djibril Cisse and Milan Baros.

Benitez said that Harry is not 100% fit, but he hopes that Harry is possible to play. But he still left it undecided before talking with him and the medical team.

If Harry`s not 100% fit, I can`t really understand why Rafa would perfer him over Warnock. I think that Warnock has proven himself able to fill the role as a left winger, and considering Harry not fully recovered from injury I would say that this, imo, should be an easy call. I hope Warnock will be among the starting 11.

I personally prefer Warnock to be the first line-up. Injured Harry has proven to be dissatisfactory

If he isnt 100 percent then no, Warnock has shown enough to keep his place

Warnock espeicaly that its away from home.  As he gives a hell off alot more cover to Riise,as healso more natrualy defence minded.

Either way I woulnt be a r s ed aslong as we get the three points.

as riise said: "I thought Steve Warnock played really well too. I think we've linked together. He knows when to stay back to allow me to get forward and vice-versa."

Warnock can whip in great crosses with his trusty left foot and hes showing enough to keep his place. If Kewell is fit, then i'd play him, hes gotta get back to his normalself sooner or later

I'd go with Warnock, the lad has played well everytime he's been given the chance where Kewell has alway failed to impress :(

Warnock for me!
Harry has had a lot of time to find his form and he hasnt!
His work rate has been low and for the team thats not fair!
Warnock has quietly pushed for this place and i think it only right that he plays!
We all know how good Harry can be! But he hasnt played like that for a long time, why will it change tonight!
I think Harry should now be the one looking to get a first team place back not the other way round!
There seems also to be a good balance between defense and attack when Warnock plays.

Read Benitez's lips, "Kewell is not 100% fit to be in the Liverpool team". He is lost as what to do with Kewell and I don't think the doctors can give him either.

i heard that cisse was carrying a knock so if that's the case kewell might be forced to play. i'd keep warnock on the left and garcia on the right, and play kewell in the withdrawn striker's role. what d'ya reckon? ???

If Cisse is out, then Benitez can still play his preferred
4-4-1-1 with Gracia playing behind Baros.

Let Kewell continue to work up his appetite in the stand. He simplylost the feeling of being hungry.
