blow.....are you kidding...Cappello may not realise it , but he has just been given the biggest lift to actually win the competition.....Ferdinand gone to be replaced by ANOther alongside Terry will help the defence no end...Ferdinand was a disaster waiting to happen.....Cappello has been blessed and he doesn't know it  :D

Yeah it's probaby a blessing in disguise. Ferdinand has not even played half the season, whilst Carra has shown when it comes to the big time in a knockout tournament he is the best there is. He will probably play Dawson though.

 I laughed my backside off when I heard he was out. The most over rated defender there is. England will fail though. Capello has gone the same way as every other England manager in picking the players that dont deserve to be in the squad over those who do.

Even though he said himself he will pick the players on performance.

However, as mentioned, now Gerrard is captain, im hoping we will do well.

Rio Ferdinand injury is a blow to England, there's no two ways about it. I just hope that Ledley King can step up to the plate and stay injury free for more than one game.

By your logic and Capello's logic, Steven Gerrard is one of those England players who doesn't deserve to be at the World Cup as he had a diabolical season last season.

all the Chelsea players seem to be getting injured. Drogba, Essien, Ballack, Bosingwa and now Mikel. it sucks that such talented players won't be on the biggest stage.

Your definition of diabolical must be fascinating.  ???

Listen good and listen hard.

Steven Gerrard during his time under Rafa Benitez has improved ten folds, so much so that he set high standards for himself, he is our captain, now while I am not expecting Gerrard to be producing quality of the standard of the 2006 FA Cup final every passing match I do expect Steven Gerrard to lead by example.

Standing around throwing your arms up in the air when things aren't going right, shaking your head and looking down into the ground for some form of inspiration is not what I expect from a World Class footballer or the Captain of our club. Gerrard's attitude was unacceptable last season and given the nature of his performances I am well within my write to say he had a diabolical season without my grasp of the word being questioned, thank you!

Don't you agree Bob? I think he along with many other players were below par last season. I think the real moment he lost his composure was the season before last after that punch up incident.

Terry and carra are solid defensively but won't help the team build up the play, when carra is under pressure he punts it up the pitch and from the quarters on that isn't good enough to win a tournament (bar the odd fluke like Greece in 04)

Below his best?  Absolutely.  Below par when compared to the level of many of his teammates?  Not exactly.  Diabolical?  Not even remotely.  :nod
