So we have Gerrard, Lampard, Barry Milner, Carrick and at a push Joe Cole who can all play centre midfield.
He should have left out Carrick and taken Johnson without a doubt.
Attacking players are the ones that can change games when things arent working.

Not happy me with that tbh.

Johnson for me would have made all the difference between teams actually fearing England and not just respecting their audacity in being involved in the final 8  ???

I like the lad.
He has pace, is direct and causes problems to most teams.

If we were struggling to break a team down with 20 minutes to go, or where 1-0 down then i would love an option like him.

I think he is the genuine article ,I don't think he flatters to deceive like others  his surging runs nearly always seem to have an end product ,
I think he would have scared the life out of defences in South Africa ,which would in turn have eased the pressure on Rooney and Defoe

Messi wasnt included either.
The attacking options they have got are amazing.
Tevez, Messi, Aguero Higuain, Milito and Di Maria. Maxi always seems to do well for them as well and scored 2 decent goals.
Really looking forward to seeing them in the tournament and there group isnt that difficult so they should go far.
Leaving out Zanetti and Cambiasso was crazy though, typical Maradona i suppose.

Yep watChed that too they looked great - 'Only Canada'.. well it was 'only' Japan  that Engerland played and Eng looked 3rd rate ...

Diego's got the boys believing - great and good  players don't need tellin, they need the inspiration to play and at international level you don't coach.. your 'orchestrate'.. que the Maestro.. Diego Armando Maradona........  :buttrock

ARGENTINA .. ARGENTINA ... ARGENTINA ....

I would have had Adam Johnson in too but I think Carrick had to be in there as he's a genuine holder who can replace Barry. Capello was bound to have him or another like him in there. With King, Carragher, Ferdinand and Terry selected I'd rather have seen Upson have left out. At least you could have seen Johnson being utilised to change the game - Upson is only likely to come in if our backline is decked by injuries. Plus, because it's only a 7-game tournament max I feel the squad should be weighted a little more toward attacking options as they have the potential to change games, and we don't really have anything else like Johnson in the squad. Not that bothered by Walcott's omission tbh. There's enough pace/trickery in SWP/Lennon.

Capello has clearly gone with experience over youth hence why the likes of Huddlestone, Johnson, Walcott and Dawson missed out.

I am pleased with the team as I think it will play to our strengths, the only thing I am concerned about going into the tournament is our defensive record. I believe it's four clean sheets in 20+ appearances under Capello.

It is a cause for concern.
