'God Save the Queen' is temporary. As soon as Charles takes the throne, the anthem changes. Some anthem! Ireland - we have an anthem! In Irish, to be sure, but after 800 years of oppression, our song MUST be tops!

Read into your history. The celtic tradition actually comes from continental Europe in 500 BC, from Spain. But before that, from northern Asia. So, despite your belief that the Irish tradition is pure, it's not. Ireland derives it's tradition from a mixture of traditions - the English only adding to this.

Neway, the irony is that Ireland is dominated by Roman Catholicism, the same church which funded King William of Orange.

I quite like a bit of "Oh, Canada..." and, I know I'll get a slating for this, a touch of Star Spangled Banner is quite rousing. When it comes to GSTQ, I prefer Bill Bailey's idea of Portisheads interpritation of Zip-a-dee-doo-dah.
