Michael Owen is ready to commit to a new Liverpool contract with the club set to appoint Rafa Benitez as new manager.
Benitez resigned from Valencia yesterday and will be unveiled as new Liverpool boss in the coming days.
Owen, 24, and his advisers had already opened talks with the Liverpool board about a new contract. He was waiting to see who was Gerard Houllier's replacement before committing himself.
The England striker is a long-term admirer of Benitez and the appointment will swiftly be followed by Owen agreeing a new mega-money long-term contract.
Skipper Steven Gerrard is also prepared to back the new manager and will resist a £30 million offer from Chelsea to stay at Anfield.
