Liverpool vs Southampton 22/09 15:00 ko

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Playing against our local shopping store. I think Klopp will field our main xi so i doubt we will see Fabino or Shaq.

Seems like we tend to struggle after a midweek game.

I think we should beat these lot comfortably though.

3-0

I think we'll rest 3 players for this one:

I'd go with:

Alisson
Clyne (we'll need TAA against Hazard)
VVD
Gomez
Robertson
Henderson
Keita
Wijnaldum
Shaqiri
Mane
Firmino

I'm going to snooze through this one and catch the highlights, but my Prediction is:

4-0 to the mighty reds. Salah will find his shooting boots for this one and bag a hattrick.
Mane gets the 4th goal.

I expect to see either Gini or Milner being rested. Other than that, I expect the standard starting 11.

No Danny Ings for them so I predict 2-0 to us.

If it was a league one side we were up against in the cup I would have agreed on starting our best 11 but it's Chelsea and we have them back to back. This is exactly the kind of game we need the likes of Clyne and Shaqiri to step up in and do enough for us to get the win.

With the starting 11 we have out we should still comfortable get the win. I wouldnt even put it past Klopp to rest VVD or Gomez for this one.

Firmino in for Danny, Keita in for one of the CMs, and maybe Shaq for one of Salah/Mane.

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Shaqiri, Mane, Salah, Firmino.

Still think we need Keita..he is our X factor..

Surprised at that lineup to be honest. Hope we are able to control the midfield with the 2 we have. We'll be committing more bodies higher up the pitch so Matip needs to be on his game with Long looking to run behind all day long.

I dont really see it as a lineup that improves our attacking game, I hope I'm wrong but I can see Mane and Shaqiri/Salah needing to track back more often than they would need to if we played that additional midfielder.

It's an attacking line up with Salah, Firmino, Mane and Shaquiri all starting (which is good to see).
Bit concerning that Keita seems to be out of favour though, breaking up the VVD/Gomez CB partnership could be seen as a tadge risky as well.
We need to rotate though, we've all seen how we've hit the wall the last 2 seasons so I guess we shouldn't moan when it happens.

Shaqiri is playing in Coutinho old position just behind the front three!?
If he can supply some assists or even nick a goal it could be the start of something good.

No Keita again. I can only assume he is resting Milner and Gomez bearing in mind Chelsea on Wednesday.

It's going to take Klopp a while to find the right mixture of personnel in the Midfield etc to be most effective.

Assume it's the 4-2-3-1 we played against Brighton on the last day of the season with Hendo and Gini being very disciplined in their positioning.

Kieta isn’t “out of favour” - it’s the manager managing his squad and picking the right balance for the right opposition , people seem to be constantly making judgments of players when they don’t start. I suspect only a couple of players are going to start every game - the rest of the players will be managed by Klopp depending on the opposition. Just because someone isn’t playing doesn’t mean he has been dropped or is out of favour.

And yes people shouldn’t moan even if it seems second nature to some - blimey the life has been sucked out of this place and you can see the negativity is draining the place dry
