Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby red till i die!! » Fri Aug 18, 2023 11:22 pm

It was the 27th of August when we played them last year and put 9 past them. Don't think we will do that again but I would expect a comfortable win all the same.

1st home game of the season so good chance for the new lads to get a taste. New lad should be on the bench as well so hope to see him come on at some point.

                    Allison

   Trent    ibou      Virg        Robbo

                    Mac     Szob

                      Gakpo or Elliot

          Mo            Gakpo or Nunez       Diaz

It would be absolute madness to start Thiago and him just back training with the squad. Jones has a knock so I think Klopp will go with same as last week with maybe Gakpo moving fwd for Jota being the only change. If Endo had a training session this morning I'd start him.

City play Newcastle, Manure V Spurs, Brighton V Wolves while Arsenal and Chelsea have derbies. Good chance for us to make up for last week.

Judging by Klopp's press conference, Thiago and Bajčetić will be given more time in training before being involved. Jones twisted his ankle so won't be available for this one, and Endo probably won't get his work permit in time. I'd drop Jota and move Gakpo back up top, and have Elliott in midfield.

                                     Alisson

Trent               Konate               van Djik               Robertson

          Elliott               Mac Allister               Szoboszlai

              Salah               Gakpo               Diaz

Subs: Nunez, Jota, Doak, Clark, McConnell, Matip, Gomez, Tsimikas, Kelleher

What's with all the dropping Jota? He wasn't great against Chelsea but he's still the second biggest goal threat we have.

I'd go with the same team as against Chelsea.

I don't want to see Gakpo as an 8. Would much rather have Elliott in there. So in attack it's 2 from Gakpo, Jota, and Diaz.

He is mate but imo hes one of those expensive toys that if you play with it to much, it breaks. I'd manage his gametime if it was me and tbh I'm surprised that he isn't injured after that challenge last week when he got upended.

Don't think we need him for this one.

The team Flashscore posted is the same as last week. Hopefully we are a bit more productive with it today.

                          Ali

Trent        ibou        virgil      robbo

   Szob                Mac            Gakpo

   Salah             jota          Diaz.

Interesting how we do down the left again with Gakpo supporting Robbo. Thought that was our biggest weakness last week.

Just reading there that Endo is in the squad and seems to have his work permit cleared so might get to see him at some point.

2.1 thought that was a soft pen tbh. If Solanke got that I'd be calling him a diving Cnut.
