Nope i don't agree because we had one of the soundest defenses in the premiership last season, ok, with Sammy getting on abit, we may need another young centre half to cover Carra and Dagger, but I don't think we should splash our cash on a big named centre half. The best option is Heinze, because he can slot into the left back position if need be, but again i can't see that happening because he's with the mancs and i can't see them allowing him to even consider a move to us.

We do have Palleta, only time will tell if he is suitable for our squad but he still hasn't proven to me or many people he can be a good player for us.

I still think a potentially world class winger is needed to bring our team up a level, Quaresma was a great choice, but doesn't look like happening. Maybe Mancini, but Babel i think would be a class buy. He's not a stereotypical winger, reminds me of gerrard when he's on the wings, the power and speed and great shot he has; he can also add more depth into our team because of his versatility and i think he would be a great asset to the team.

Why is it too late? He has not signed for anyone yet.

Here in Portugal a newspaper says Porto is after Mariano Gonzalez who(i think) do the same positions as Quaresma...maybe they already are after a substitute for Quaresma.  :D

With Pepe just recently sold to Madrid and Anderson going to the mancs, I just cannot see any more players leaving, and that means no Quaresma :( at least for this season anyway.

No they aren't trying to find a substitute. Porto had intentions to buy another winger for this season.
I assure you all once again that Quaresma won't leave Porto this season..

"I have a responsibility to get things right but that's fine. I am still looking for two or three more players, particularly wingers, and I am hopeful we can get them in soon."  RB

so far we have signed 2 out of the three rafa has mentioned and i know we want heinz but likely manure will sell to another club...

so id say quaresma is still on Raffa's plans and is up for grabs.... if porto received the right offer...

In today's edition of AS and ABOLA it looks that Real Madrid is also interested in Ricardo Quaresma...i think they will join Baptista in the negotiation.

About Xabi Alonso it looks that Real Madrid is interested in him...
Spanish: http://www.marca.com/edicion....38.html
Online translator:
"A player who returns crazy to Schuster is Xabi Alonso, but its crossing would go away over the 40 million euros, although Rafa Benítez, whom it has in that position to Sissoko and Mascherano, could be arranged to seat to negotiate."

wow that's a funky online translation  :p  :p

but I get the gist, for 40 million sell him, we have enough midfielders at the moment and with that money we could get some more wingers.

IMO LFC have ended their interest in Quaresma now that we've signed Benayoun :(
