What`s the realistic goal for next season ?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Thor Viking » Wed Feb 25, 2004 8:45 am

It seems to me that LFC is left behind in the struggle of winning PL. The last few seasons have been alltogether ManU and Gunners. Lateley Chelski has come into the battle too.

MU have the players AND the money  :D
Gunners have the players :D
Chelski have the money

Where does that leave LFC ? I mean they have to get some new players, yes ? And they have to get a new manager, yes? In order to do so they need money, yes ?

SO, whats realistic regarding next seasons goal ?

I still believe (ever the optimist) that if we get the right manager in it will only take a couple of purchases, maybe 3 - a cenrtral defenender, a playmaking midfielder and a striker -  to elevate us to contenders.

Bearing in mind Moore's reluctance to make a decisive move, Houllier's comments yesterday whereby he said that he will never resign fill me with dread. The new man (MoN please) has to have time before the start of next season to reshape things and make a positive start.

Whilst the content may be a little over-the-top I'm not sad that the anti-GH slogans have been daubed around Melwood....

Totally agree, i think with the right man in charge we could comfortably be in the top three, and mounting a challenge.  That should be the target for next season, then the title the year after.  Then Europe, then we will take over the universe again!!! :;):

Reallistic goal... Levski winning the Champions League... beating Liverpool at the final :D  :D  :D  And United facing relegation... after making public the sexual affair between Nistelroy and Ferdinand :D

1st as I say, I am not accepting this consolidation cr#p, we have spent enough money on players and the board promised the league title in 5 years, it is over 5 years and we are still waiting, there is no excuse for why we have been so poor so I wont settle for 2nd next season. 1st is still the aim same as any other season, below that is a poor finish.

Fair enough, Roberts stamps his feet therefore winning the Prem this year is realistic, riiiiighto......

Yes, GH has been given the time and resources to deliver the Premiership but we all agree that he has f*cked up rendering any expectations of winning it next year as ridiculous in the extreme......  ???

It maybe a difficult target but he has brought it on himself he has had the five years that he promised he would win the Premiership in that time, so where is it Redsi?
Have I been asleep for a year and we have won it in that time?
Any Liverpool supporter who accepts anything less than 1st doesnt know what this club is about, so what next Redsi I suppose you will be settling for 8th, 9th or 10th place in a couple of years correct?

Come off it Roberts mate, that's not what I'm saying at all. Houllier has f*cked up big time and should be shown the door immediately, that doesn't mean that we can reasonably expect to win it next year no matter how much of a "loyal" supporter we are (let's not go down that well-worn, ultimately futile route, eh....)..... :)
