He will get a decent rest now something he hasn't had the past few summers and I'm not that @rsed with the Europa cup

He will miss the rest of the season

Probably won't go the world cup

Fourth would require things to go for us, while I won't say we've had everything go against us, I can't believe it would ever go that much for us.

So our season is pretty much over, some were hanging hopes on the tin pot but that wouldn't salvage this season. Might be best just to move on to next season and see what 'tomorrow brings'

With no Torres the chances of Chelsea winning at Anfield have greatly improved

i love Torres, he is a brilliant player and all but these injuries have caused us a lot of problems over the last 2 seasons. (this one in particular).

As someone else said, give him one more season to try and stay fit and if he cant, maybe we're best selling while he is worth so much.

80m for him and we could buy 4 or 5 good players.

I really hope he can stay fit next season and help us win the title, but the poor lad just gets kicked around all the time.

It sends a shiver down the spine to imagine what Liverpool would be like without Torres as part of it.

Bar Torres, every striker Benitez has touched hasn't worked.

Instead of thinking of selling world class striker, I'd make sure to have a top class striker to substitute him when he's not available.

If Liverpool pretends to fight for the league, the champions league, and the F.A cup, that is.

What an end to a glorious season - sad  :(

I hope our boy recovers quickly good health to him.

But as we have more then enough backup on the bench we should be cruising to the fourth place and Europe cup title - right Rafa?

It has been a horror show all round and no mistake. If it is the case that Rafa stays for next season though (and it is I think) we are rapidly approaching the "what lessons have we learned this time around" stage. Surely chief amongst them must be that to go into the new season as obviously underprepared and undercooked as we tried to this time around was/is suicide.

I know some will say that pre season games don't matter, but we really did disprove that theory this time around in no uncertain terms. I actually think FWIW we've gone into all of Rafa's campaigns underdone, almost losing in the Champions League qualifiers a couple of times as a result, but this time we really paid for it.

I remember reading about Mourinho when he first arrived at Chelsea, how he gave each player a dossier detailing what their behaviour should be, what the new ethos was, talked about diet, preparation, mindset etc. The idea was that from the first minute of the first pre-season game they (Chelsea) were going absolutely all out to win four competitions. Failure simply would not be tolerated, even in pre season friendlies, and winning was a habit which had to be honed so it could be repeated even when all other aspects of the teams performance failed. During pre season they largely fielded their strongest teams, working on different set-ups within the game, working on situations where they scored first and sat, even aping situations where they were behind when they actually weren't. They pressed centrally to force teams wider and encourage them to knock it long into Carvallho and Terry's green zone, they worked tirelessly with the Makeleli axis in order to establish a bridgehead.

Yes pre-season games are about getting fit, but they shouldn't be a jolly up where you make six subs and then get stuffed by everyone you play. Surely this time around we've learnt that much.

He's going to be here, he said so himself
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I really hope so - but if Rafa continues to produce a none competative squad and surely a hugh offer is already on it's way for Torres well...I have my doubts.

Torres left Atletico Madrid to Liverpool to be in world class club ,if we continue to drift in mediocrity he will not stay ,remember next season we are out of the CL.
