The guy is one of UK’s top businessmen and he wasn’t going to ruin his career and lose millions of pounds of future earnings by doing anything stupid.

Today Broughton showed why he’s at the top of his game. His contract was watertight and he’s played the takeover close to his chest, hence H&G were outraged when they found out last week. They didn't see it coming and they knew they couldn't do anything to stop it. Hence one last desperate bid in the courts to save their money.

Broughton also hired Grabiner QC who is THE best commercial lawyer in the country. H&G didn’t stand a chance.

I’m under no illusions that Broughton has done this out of ‘loyalty’ or ‘love’ for our club…to him it’s merely business. However, he’s a GOOD businessman and he has morals and ethics too. He also recognises the human side to football clubs.

Sadly, the same cannot be said for the rest of Premiership.

absolutely. he's a hero to me. alongside with Ayres and Purslow, the 3 of them have been top class. ive never had a bad word to say about them and i never will. they have been superb!

The way he spoke afterwards, with dignity and humility reminded me of Peter Robinson a bit. It might sound a bit mad, but out of all the poeple who've had their two penneth worth and are likely to in the future, I trust this fella and would have him on the board or as chairman any day of the week. I personally don't give a feck if he supports Chelsea, he can even go to their games if he likes, as long as he makes sure people stick to their pledges and do things properly as far as we're concerned, he's alright by me.

When you look back on the stuff he said, about the timescale, what the process involved, about the fact that he wouldn't under any circumstances be providing a commentry, about the deal itself and his confidence it was watertight, about the fact that he had been employed not to shaft the fans but to look for the best deal, he has been absolutely spot on the money. No bullsh!t, no promises, no responses to any jibes and digs no matter who they've come from.

I like him, and I think the club owes him a huge debt.

As BarCap appointed him I guess its a temporary appointment?

And what becomes of Purslow now? Has he had a rethink about his role in the last 18 months and whether he has something to offer along the lines of Broughton's style of doing business?

And Ayres.... has he seen the light after being Hick's lovechild throughout the Parry dramas?

They won the battle but I'll be interested to know how Purslow and Ayres intend to conduct themselves in future.

(Said in a positive manner!)

Broughton has done a great job and should applauded. What pleases me most is that liverpool used to be renowned for setting standards both on and off the pitch by acting with dignity, with class and by never washing their dirty laundry in public. The Fu.ckle brothers didn't get this and didn't uphold those standards. Broughton and the rest of the board have and I admire them for it.

Thank you to him - suspicions there were, but given where the club was plunged it seemed no-one could be trusted ... so he supports chelase.. we can't all be perfect :D

Completely agree, he's been brilliant.

I've no regrets over being suspicious of him, I think we'll be suspicious of everyone involved with the club for a long time to come, but he's played a blinder.

May need to change my signature now!
