Jeez Reg and you dig me out for doing long posts :D . Having read through it, my conclusion is that we buy and sell too many players. And if you did do that from memory, then you have a staggering memory. I can barely remember what half the players are called these days. I was talking to someone about Louis Garcia the other day and mid conversation forgot his name. I had to think of the sangria song to jog up the old head a bit.

poof goes the money argument... we wasted the money buying shhitty players (in general, few exceptions)... now we need to make things right... again, i expect us to have atleast 20-30mill to spend without having to sell anyone, but if we'r gonna spend 18.5mill to bring in Johnson then we might aswell donate the money to charity... No rick parry to blame this year mind you so it should be interesting

I think buyig "shhitty players" cost us time rather than money as such. It's all very nice someone posting the transfers as a list, as if it hasn't been done before, tells us anything we don't already know, and all it tends to do is get the net vs gross spending debate going, but the reality is this - we amassed 82 points in 2005/06, not until 2008/09 did we manage to IMPROVE on that. Three seasons to improve by four points, if we hadn't bought and sold so many "shhitty players", wasted £11.5m on Babel, £20.3m on Keane etc, maybe if we'd let Degen, Itandje, Voronin and cheap/free players like that go elsewhere or simply not buy them, we'd have spent the money on a better set of players and have won the league by now.

You have to wonder if Rafa doesn't favour quantity over quality. We spent £40m give or take last summer on six players, Keane was sold next available window and even Riera was fading as first choice so only one of the six made a real and lasting impact. Only time will tell, but I'm betting we will be at best pleased rather than excited and expectant when our summer signings arrive.

So since Rafa has arrive total spent 80 million, RM have just spent that on one player.

So  it puts things in perspective and puts to bed all that sh!te that Rafa has spent 1 billion pounds since he arrived..

Rafa has bought a lot of :censored: players but give him his dues, he's also made a few brilliant signings, I just hope that this transfer season we go for quality instead of quantity, then we can make that final push and reclaim the top spot in total league championships.  :buttrock

As said I will wait till the end of this transfer period before passign judgement and as we haven't signed anyone of note yet I have nothing to get my teeth into anyway.

2005 was a fecking shocking year for transfers though.  :no
