What are your personal targets this season and what do you think Liverpool can achieve?

This is the best club in the country so the targets and expectations are always high. Hopefully we can stay at our level. At Liverpool the aim is to fight for every title. It was difficult last season but we are sure we can improve this season. I am really happy to be back, really happy to stay with all my teammates. My commitment and loyalty to the club and to the fans is the same as it was on my first day when I signed. I am looking forward to the challenge ahead.

Why does this club mean so much to you?

From my first day I got the same welcome as Stevie or Carra or players who have been here for a long time. I felt at home from the first day, I feel the fans love me and everyone knows I am really happy here and really happy to play at Anfield. As I said earlier, I'm looking forward to starting the season and playing with my teammates and for the fans.

If I were him id be looking to sue the Sunday S*n for making up trash!

He might have said it OFF the record to someone and they've decided to put it ON the record. Difficult to say in these situations.

Unless he sues the paper involved, we'll never really know if he said it or not.

We need to help this guy get a trophy.  its unbelievable that this guy hasn't won a single trophy at club level.  (he would of had he of stayed at Athletico). :D

I can't help but think Torres and Gerrard have being giving guarantees of investment.  All this talk of a takeover would fit in nicely with the news that they're both staying put.

For me, I've never understood this demand that fans have for players to come out and state their allegiance every time there's a piece of speculative trash in the gutter press.  It's a very modern phenomenon.  If a player is under contract, especially with years to run (as in Fernando's case), why should he be obliged to state anything?  I prefer the player who keeps his mouth shut, full stop.  Because the media is so invasive these days, with internet rumours springing out of nowhere every few hours, a lot of people believe they have to know exactly where everything stands all the time.  We don't.  It's mental masturbation of the footballing kind.

I am made up though that he'll be here next season.  With a fit team, we could leap forward again this year.  It's only two seasons since we were nearly champions.  New manager, new confidence and optimism around the club and hopefully, masses of new funds for another striker and a left back.

more to do with his agen and other clubs saying that he was looking to leave, not much to do with the press in this case.

Well done Nando! Now just get fit and back to your absolute best and with a bit of luck we can win the title and no I haven't been on the funny fags! Big well done to Roy as well who has just put another nail in the coffin of his doubters with this excellent display of man management skill!

Some great quotes there, I have tried saying "It's a very modern phenomenon" about 4 times but get it wrong each time.

"It's mental masturbation of the footballing kind"

the bit i like is

"I really appreciated the fact that Roy came out to see me while I was on my holidays,"

it should read " i was asleep and somthing wet was by my feet, i sat up to find a bulls head in my bed and Roy standing at the end of it, he said to me "see you in training", it was so nice of Roy to do that.
