David Villa, Barcelona striker wanted to refute the statements that the British newspaper "Daily Star" put in your mouth and in stating that the player was surprised that Spaniard Fernando Torres had not signed for Chelsea and Liverpool left.

"I've never talked about the future of Fernando Torres, or with an English newspaper or any journalist," he told Efe categorically top scorer in the World Cup in South Africa.

Villa, who is vacationing with his family, said he could not believe that publishing this information and the British newspaper that echoed Spanish media.

". The British Sunday announcing that Villa had given an interview in which the Spaniard striker stated inter alia that "after speaking with him (Torres) in the World Cup, I thought I would sign for Chelsea. I think it must Chelsea might not want to pay what you ask for Liverpool because if not, I'm sure she would have left. "

Where did that come from? Did anybody actually hear him say that or is it just another smile on the face comment that has been taken out of context by our sh.te awful tabloid press?

Lads I think theres a lot of - to be polite - Chinese whispers going on here.  FT has never said he's leaving, never even said he's unhappy.

All this talk of needing him to reconfirm his commitment to the club is pure malarky: the lads under contract, he's taking his money and he's turned up for training as planned after a long season, world cup and short holiday. Some of you seem more insecure than he is but try to give him the benefit of the doubt, he's a great lad.

It's a headline.. but if you read what he said, he actually said the he hoped him coming helped Gerrard committ further.. he also said that Stevie and Carra told him what a grt place this was so he really wanted to come.

Totally agree with Reg aka our Torres.. he's here isn't he? he wore the red flag on the greatest night of his footballing life and.. he signed a new contract last year.. so what more do ppl want.

Lets just get on with it and hope the new era is accompanied by committed owners who won't ruin this grt institution we all love LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB.. 'one of the biggest clubs in the world' quoute-unquoute Cole   :D

I thought when a player was quoted as saying somethin it had 2 be 100% true an come from the players mouth

How the :censored: do these dirty little rat journalists get away with it time and time again. Surely the paper that printed the story (originally) must be forced to give up whoever reported this 2 them and they must be punished

I don't understand, if David Villa never explicitly said those things then where did those quotes come from? You can't just make up quotes!?

If I were him id be looking to sue the Sunday S*n for making up trash!
