Squad numbers

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby SouthCoastShankly » Thu Jul 01, 2010 4:21 pm

Was looking through the squad list and noticed we actually have many squad numbers unassigned that usually get snapped up in other sides.

Now I'm not suggesting that the squad numbers are being reserved for transfers, but it did get me pondering whether a squad number reshuffle was due, or whether any youth team players were going to be assigned higher profile squad numbers?

No tmany people want (or should have) No 7 as it still belongs to Kenny.. You need some very big feet to take that

I would hope we get a new No 10 soon, we desperately need an extra striker as Ngog is not good enough
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

I thought Harry Kewell coped well with the expectations of a number 7, whilst fit of course. It was too much for Smicer on the other hand.

Danny Murphy will definitely be assigned the No 13 shirt (thats if Hodgy re-signs him)

It's part of the agreement that Roy can NOT sign any Fulham players.

Kewell?  Sorry, I dont remember him.... when did he play?

Since when did he EVER look after Kenny´s and KK's shirt.

The no 7 shirt is THE most respected shirt at Anfiled.

Number 7....Give it to Lucas I say

Nah I think if Arda Turan comes here then he should have it, he seems like he would be a loyal player for us.

Becauuuuse he is an absolute hero in Turkey, they all love him to bits but he has came out saying that he supports Liverpool and would love a chance to join us.

He would be playing at his dream club if he came here. Thats why I think he would be loyal. fool

Dry your eyes fart face.

I was contrasting the differences in Smicer and Kewell's ability to cope with the expectations. Kewell looks confident and Smicer looked nervous.

I neally wet myself when I read this how and when did Kewell look confident as a Liverpool number 7, maybe collecting his inflated wages whilst sat on the treatment table. Kewell was an absolute disgrace to that number at least Smicer tried to put a shift in when he played.

As for squad numbers, never liked the idea and much prefer it when the numbers meant something in terms of positions not just some number that means something to the player.

Is there much point speculating who might wear what depending on who stays and goes?!?! By the signings have been made, the number will be allocated.

1 Reina
2 Johnson
3 Insua
5 Agger
6 Carragher
7 Kuyt
11 Jovanovic I guess
4 Lucas
8 Gerrard
9 Torres
10 Babel I guess
