Squad numbers

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby mattylfc » Fri Jul 13, 2007 2:32 pm

On the liverpool website it has mentioned that Yossi has replaced Gonzalez as number 11 and Babel has got the number 19 shirt.

It also says that Arbeloa has been moved from number 2 to number 17.

Just wondered if anyone has any info on this as to why he has changed. Wasnt sure if it was because someone is maybe lined up for the number two shirt or there will simply be some shuffling around within the squad.

Any idea?

Neville wears the Number 2 at Man U, and I doubt if we're making a move for the kn*b!

Historically a Number 2 is a right back so it would be strange for Heinze to wear it.

Micah Richards? Daniel Alves?

It might well be, that no. 2 historically used to belong to a right back, but those times are long gone. Just look at when Baros played for us, he was wearing no. 5 as a striker! And now Gallas wearing no. 10 at Arsenal, al though he is most definitely not a playmaker :D  Anyway, I haven't got any good explanation for the change of shirt by Arbeloa... maybe he wore no. 17 at Deportivo?

just thinking the same myself. I would like richards rather than alves. More long term and a pure willingness to learn. Danny Alves would create bother

slightly off topic, but our jjb in cardiff has the new away shirt for sale, and guess which names and numbers they chosen to advertise their lettering on the back?

naaaaa, just a joke between me and Leon.

Me and him are both on RAOTL and he made a thread saying he reckons the number 2 is for Heinze and then I said it as my reply here  :D

Mark Gonzalez doesn't have a squad number, means he's probably going to be sold, or has he already?

This isn't the 1st time we've changed squad numbers though, Zenden's 1st year he was number 30 then last year he was 32.

As for number 2 Richards would be a great signing and we still don't have a number 1, Reina doesn't look as if he wants it, so Scotty Carson may get that number now his number 20 belongs to Mascherano.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Carson has been given the no. 26 shirt. It looks like we won't have anyone at no.1.

Ah didn't realise Scotty had got number 26.

I can't see us signing Micah Richards, Man City would demand much more than he's worth and the way they're spending money (or trying to) I doubt they'll be looking to sell anyway.

I wish they'd go back to the old shirt numbering, if only for the 1st choice XI. I can't see the mancs selling Heinze to us anyway, why would they? They clearly don't need the money that badly and could easily sell him for as much or more in Spain or Italy.

How about a cheeky bid for Eboue? Now they've signed that Spagna woman I reckon he might be obtainable for £4m or so. Got to be worth looking at, some of the prices flying about for right backs are a joke. What we really need is a third CB and to offload one or two surplus to requirements.
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer
