Everton near Valencia raid
Everton are closing in on a deal to sign Mohamed Sissoko and Emiliano Moretti after David Moyes travelled for transfer talks with the Valencia duo.
Moyes left the club's training camp in Austria on Thursday and was believed to be on his way to Amsterdam to meet the pair for talks on Friday.
And Sissoko's agent has said his client is on the brink of joining Everton after dismissing claims of a late attempt by Liverpool to hijack the £8m double deal.
The Mali international is expected to arrive in Merseyside within the next few days to undergo a medical before sealing his part of the transfer.
"The transfer of Sissoko to Everton is practically finalised," agent Jose Segui told the Daily Post. "There are only some small details to resolve and then the medical of the player."
Of interest from Anfield, he added: "Liverpool and Benitez have asked about the player's situation in the past, but have not made a proposition."
Moyes is also hoping that he has also persuaded Italian left-back Moretti to follow Sissoko to Goodison.
Liverpool have completed their swoop for Valencia midfielder Mohamed Sissoko.
The Mali international had looked like joining Everton for the past few weeks, but The Reds have nipped in to gazump their Merseyside rivals.
Rafa Benitez signed the 20-year-old for Valencia from French side Auxerre and obviously believes he can be a useful addition to his European champions.
Liverpool are believed to have paid €8 million for the powerful African, who has signed a four-year deal at Anfield.
Benitez's troops had their first run-out since lifting the UEFA Champions League in Istanbul on Saturday in the friendly at Wrexham.
The Spaniard revealed after the game that the club had completed the capture of Sissoko, and believed he would be a good new recruit.
"We have signed Momo Sissoko," Benitez told Sky Sports News.
"He's a centre midfielder who is very, very good, he has a high energy level and is always working.
"He's also not bad with the ball and he can give us a balance in the middle."
Benitez is to continue bolstering his squad for the coming season and revealed that he wanted to add to or three more new faces in the next week.
Despite Sissoko's arrival, Benitez says he is still hoping to sign Luis Figo, but the matter remains in the hands of Real Madrid.
"It is possibility but at the moment it's in the hands of Real Madrid," he added.
"We have a number of possibilities and Figo is one of them we are trying to get.
"We hope to sign two or three more players. I think we are better than last season."
