Rafa for sheva - Could it be the answer?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby mikopool » Mon May 22, 2006 9:28 pm

Okay this is something that has come about as just general banter with me and my mates, but do you think Liverpool should mount a serious attempt to sign Andriy Schevchenko? I think with his skill he would make us an absolute force, I have no doubt in my mind, I know Chelsea are high favourites to bag him, but I watched an interview where he openly bashed Chelsea and Mourinho after Chelsea beat Barcelona last year, he didn't seem to care for them too much at all and I am sure the memory of our heart overcoming that of Milan would sell him on a merseyside deal. I read a report somewhere that Liverpool where interested, but it was from some independent sports site that said we had landed Figo 2 weeks after he signed for Inter :D.

Let me know your thoughts and opinions.

Unfortunately Ambramovich has completely re-written the rules. It's nice to dream but we haven't got the 30million+ it would take to prise him away. Not even a glimmer of hope.

Even if we had that kind of money i personally think he would still look for a move to London. We can only dream of landing a player like that at the moment.

:no  Will never happen and if Im honest I dont think I would be happy with us shelling out that much money on one player when Rafa could do much more with it

Not a chance in the World.

We just don't spend £50m-odd on one player.

Our f*cking transfer record is £14m!!!!!

Get a grip lad.

He has said that money is not an issue, when quizzed with a possible move away from San Siro. Unfortunately, transfer fees are the ones that talk, and talk most when they are thrown around at Stamford Bridge. Nice dreams mate, I dont think that he is the answer here though. We had defender issues, then midfield issues, now our attack is the biggest issue. We need an injection of world class competition for these spots, and Im afraid that Sheva is always going to be a walk-in first teamer.

Shevchanko is a truly world class striker who would do well in any league. Not quite a quicksilver as Eto'o but far more accurate and lethal and he is a personal friend of Roman, who would break the bank to sign him if he were to be tempted. We don't have much of a chance against Chelski.

You are mental:
1) almost 30
2) £30m plus
3) played most of the last 10 years in a slow league (remember Veron)
4)Rafa never over pays for players, (except Morientes).
5) he is best mates with the chelsea owner.
6)After Istanbul Milan would never sell him to LFC.
7)Better to bring in players who can hack it against Bolton, Everton, Blackburn, Watford and Sheffield United.

There's more chance of us signing Andre "the toothbrush" Silensi! :p
