So massive mate was the deflection that you could hardly see it. The commentators never even noticed until the slow motion replay.

I think I agree with Thommo

If it didn't deflect it would have been one of those Coutinho shots again. Or to say it simply, if it didn't deflect, it wouldn't have gone in. That's why I say "massive". People think that it was a fine placement, and it looked like that at first, but it definitely wasn't. Not saying that he had a bad game though, just wanted to point this out.

Well he's been unlucky for a long while now and it's time he had some luck on his side, deflection or not.

On the other hand you could say it was a brilliant bit of play as he deliberately played for the deflection   :D

I'm with Maypax, about time Coutinho had a bit of luck.

And rather boringly, back on topic... it was the type of goal Lampard made a career off only without the little dribble first. The boy's quality and it was good play that deserved a little bit of luck. :)

Think Pip and Luis between them this season have been fantastic and made us a joy to watch. Coutinho is a little bit inconsistent at times but his class will prevail as he gets a little older and more accustomed to the way we play and his role within the side. Has absolutely superb vision and his weight of ball is fabulous. Also works his ***** off, even when not playing well.

Reminds me of Pablo Aimar a fair bit and hopefully he'll become as good with time as the Argentinian maestro, he's certainly getting there.

:)

He reminds me of Aimar too. Very clever lad, quick feet, quicker thought. And that can be his downfall at times; his feet and brain are sometimes out of sync. At 21(?) he's got plenty of time to learn. Hopefully his game will expand. I'm not sure he knows what to do if we don't have possession, which would explain his tendency to vanish from games we don't control.

I have no worries though. He's surprisingly tough and dosent mind getting stuck in. He should develope well.

You know something?

A lot of the lads have been getting a lot of air time on these boards but one player we seem to have somehow forgotten is little Phillip.
The lad has been brilliant for us this year. Not as consistently as I would like mind you.... but an important cog to the liverpool machine lest we forget.
6 weeks since anyone had anything to say about out little maestro. And can you believe that he has only 23 pages in his OFFICIAL thread?

Thought I'd bump this up a bit as I feel he needs a mention our other Carioca

Good shout Conn.

Personally I was beginning too think he'd lost a bit of his shine, poor shooting, passing a bit off etc etc BUT in recent weeks he's come back with a vengeance. In addition to him rediscovering what he's best at I've been really impressed with how the fella has shown that can also get really stuck in, like Sterling he's tougher than he looks.  :buttrock

Has more than played his part this season
